As we roll towards the huge Firefly 10th Birthday show in June, We?re very very proud to be able to bring someone to Nottingham who has pretty much pioneered the Manchester derived acid tinged sounds we all know and love. Gerald Simpson as his family know him, or A Guy Called Gerald to the rest of us, started making music in the 1980?s and has been a dance music institution ever since. From his Manchester roots he started the infamous band 808 State, making anthem after anthem which still live on to this day. He has worked with pretty much every artist from Goldie and Krust, to Findlay Quaye and has been credited with the release of the first ever full length Jungle based Drum and Bass album ever in 1995.
His regular trips to Fabric playing Techno and doing Live Drum and Bass shows, still shows his ability and desire to rock a crowd still lives?.. In his own words?.
When u hear the name A Guy Called Gerald most people in this day and age would probably say "Who the hell's that?", those of you from back in the day are probably saying "I wonder what he is up to now" or probably have some sort of story around Voodoo Ray or Pacific State or Blow Your House Down or 28 Gun Bad Boy. Then there's another group of people who have followed me over the years and know the the full journey I've taken.
Since I started in music I've seen the system change - the old structure crumble away as myself and many of the others I inspired emerged from the bedroom studio with our own self generating independence. I was one of the first to break the mould of the stranglehold that labels and studios and PR machines had on artists. Let me just say that information is techno. The record company dam was broken and there was a tidal wave. It was further fueled by cheaper and cheaper studio machinery and finally the nail in the coffin was the internet. You have no idea how happy this makes me feel.
Getting back to now I wasn't one then or now for riding the tidal wave so I want to give you an idea of what your experience will be hearing A Guy Called Gerald Live. I have a unique insider's view of dance music from the early 80's to now. I started out as a 14 year old dancer sneaking into clubs in Manchester when electro funk was the underground sound. No matter through what genre or in what decade you discovered this music I can guarantee you will leave with a clearer picture of the entire spectrum.
My aim is to give you all a deeper understanding with as much enjoyment as is physically and mentally possible using the three elements more frequently missing from this music - the basis of all dance music : RHYTHM, MELODY and BASS.

Nightowl @ Pacha London 20-2-2010
After blowing out the candles on our birthday cake and celebrating two years of club decadence, Nightowl has it's feet planted firmly on the London clubbing map and our residency at our new home is well and truly underway. This months headlining duties are fulfilled by TILL WEST. The German superstar was made famous when his phenomenal track "Same Man" became a global sensation, picking up various accolades in the process.
Till West became a house hold name when his phenomenal collaboration with Dj Delicious - "Same Man" - smashed charts globally and found its way into just about every DJ's record box on the planet.
This new found stardom led to a string of international bookings and gave Till the opportunity to rock dance floors World wide. He has not looked back since and now for the first time he graces the decks at the illustrious Pacha London.

Continuing our love affair with all things trance this Friday brings a typical Gallery mashup of world class talent and styles to provide a truly hands in the air experience. Back once more to literally blow the Box away is one of our most consistent and much loved headliners, trance legend, John 00 Fleming. Israeli talent Yahel is back as well bringing his unique brand of trance to The Gallery whilst full on, trance with balls exponent Sean Tyas is primed to take things up a notch or two. Round that off with a live set from the master Giuseppe Ottiavani and we have the makings of one seriously epic Gallery. The Bar welcomes our much loved Berwick Street Sessions with main man Timo Garcia and guests
John 00 Fleming has long been one of those DJs truly respected across the dance music world for his honesty, integrity and dare we say damn good taste in music. Any Gallery regulars will testify to his jaw dropping decimation of the Box in June. John is a true pioneer bringing his years of experience, unwavering support for good music and a real, refreshing passion for the best music to everything he does. Whether it be the White Label Euphoria CDs that broke the mould in compilations, his outspoken views on dance music (much of which everyone is thinking, but too afraid to say) or his relentless gig diary to all corners of the world he is a purveyor of the psy-trance sound. His recent Euphoria compilation has been a runaway success shooting up the charts the world over and is a testament to John?s taste in trance; prepare to be treated to a head down, arms in the air psy-experience unlike anything else out there, we implore you to check it out!!
Trance with Balls exponent Sean Tyas returns to The Gallery to give us another dose of his killer productions and sound. His track ?Ivy? was a standout tune at The Gallery in 2009 and we can?t wait to unleash him on the new and improved sound system in that amazing Box at Ministry of Sound. With gigs at the likes of Trance Energy and A State of Trance parties across the globe this looks to be another massive year for Sean.
Another trance producer who always hits the spot Giuseppe Ottaviani returns with his live show to give us another tour de force in only the way he can and he is joined by one of our favourite Israeli sons Yahel who will be bringing his psy cross over sound to The Gallery where he never fails to deliver a killer set.
The Bar welcomes Berwick Street Sessions who are hosting the official Timo Garcia ? ?Wonderlust Bug - The REMIXES? album release party. The album features remixes from many of our previous guests inc DJ Pierre, Eric Kupper, Onionz, Lützenkirchen, James Harcourt, Trisco, Demarkus Lewis, Justin Harris (Freaks), Timmy Stewart (Jet Project) + more. Guests on the night include US legend Eric Kupper and Tim Andresen along with Timo Garcia himself. Always a massive party in the Bar the Berwick Street Sessions are not to be missed!!
