heh, ever since this board woke up, shit has started happening with greater frequency....
is it possible that the members of this board have brought the GOOD party scene back from the dead??
i think we all owe ourselves a pat on the back for all the hard work so far!
(at least i think we do...)
The Rave
Hello all. I am new to the forums but been in the rave for more than 20 years. Born and raised in NC. I've read all of the feedback on the forums for a few days now. It's all very interesting. Everyone seems to have the same goals just separate ways of going about getting it done. I'm not here to step on anyone's toes but I have a few ideas I'm going to throw out there.
As DJRave was saying, I agree with him. People should stop saying it's dead. The Rave was never a physical thing. It was the emotional state the music put us in. Hence the Ravers Manifesto. It's only dead if we let it die in side us. And admitting it's dead is well on the path of losing it in your self. Everyone should be able to rave in his or her own way. The rave is based around the music. Plan and simple. Whether you choose to value it by spinning the music, spinning the poi to the music, dancing through the night, or enhancing the music by way of such things as my friend 'molly'. Don't miss understand me, I'm not saying drugs are ok. And the new generation seems to over do it a bit. In moderation and in the right environment it can be an amazing thing. Beautiful in most aspects.
More to the point. Most people here seem to be fairly knowledgeable of the scene or live it day to day. I just want to offer my assistance. As I said I'm not here to attempt to take control or step on the toes of the people here before me. In the aspect of this site and attempts to rave in the NC. I Will tell you where I've been What I do, and what I can do. You can use this information and my abilities to help your selves reach your goals and together maybe we can recreate the party it use to be. The one that will never stop playing.
I have booked, promoted, hosted, and designed parties from Seattle down to San Diego county, over to Miami-dade, and back up to Detroit with the Lo's.
I worked with Labels and bands such as,
Cadenza (Switzerland/Germany)
M_nus (Canada and Germany)
Cordless Recordings/Extensive/Warner Music Sweden (Basshunter's)
Smaller branches of Underground Resistance and it's affiliates contractor's.
As an occupation I design business and corporation infrastructure. Design, running and hosting raves came easy for me because of this. Organization on your efforts is key. I am willing to lend my assistance in anyway possible to help resurrect whatever it is you think is dead. I still have many of the connections I use to have as well as many friends with venues in Eastern NC and some friends in real estate. Will lend them out for the cause.
P.S Regardless of what it may say and what the 'Candie Kids' of today have done to the scene the Manifesto is not a bad way to live. Not for everyone but it knows happiness.

You all talk.. But can you walk the path? We Are The Massive. One Massive.
I've been in and out of these forums for a very long time. The only person who I see staying here in the forums over time is Djcandy. I hear people talk about the same things over and over here. Is raving dead, we need raves nc, etc.. It's not going to get there by it's self.
I just left San Francisco ans Seattle where there is a rave every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. hundreds and Hundreds of kids show up. I'm not looking forward to the lack of kids/ravers in NC. This is my home. I'd like to take better care of it. :)
You need to stop talking about it and just go do! We don't have to start big. Small is ideal anyway. The idea for the first real rave that will begin, will be a monthly/bi weekly/whatever we choose/ deal. The first one will dictate how there others are ran. Raves are not easy to organize. I use to organize for the King Kat in Seattle. We can do this though.
I will start recruiting for rave-droppers (Sec-primo-space-holders-etc) as i will be back in NC very soon and if you are interested in actully doing something abot this hit me up. We will get a candy kid council together :P
Below is something for all you new ravers to learn by if you truly are a raver. I's great knowledge. :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our emotional state of choice is Ecstasy. Our nourishment of choice is Love. Our addiction of choice is technology.
Our religion of choice is music. Our currency of choice is knowledge. Our politics of choice is none.
Our society of choice is utopian though we know it will never be.
You may hate us. You may dismiss us. You may misunderstand us. You maybe unaware of our existence.
We can only hope you do not care to judge us, because we would never judge you.
We are not criminals. We are not disillusioned. We are not drug addicts. We are not naive children.
We are one massive, global, tribal village that transcends man-made law, physical geography, and time itself.
We are The Massive. One Massive.
We were first drawn by the sound. From far away, the thunderous, muffled, echoing beat was comparable to a mother's heart soothing a child in her womb of concrete, steel, and electrical wiring.
We were drawn back into this womb, and there, in the heat, dampness, and darkness of it,
We came to accept that we are all equal. Not only to the darkness, and to ourselves, but to the very music slamming into us and passing through our souls: we are all equal.
And somewhere around 35 Hz we could feel the hand of God at our backs, pushing us forward, pushing us to push ourselves to strengthen our minds, our bodies, and our spirits.
Pushing us to turn to the person beside us to join hands and uplift them by sharing the uncontrollable joy we felt from creating this magical bubble that can, for one evening, protect us from the horrors, atrocities, and pollution of the outside world. It is in that very instant, with these initial realisations that each of us was truly born.
We continue to pack our bodies into clubs, or warehouses, or buildings you've abandoned and left for naught, and we bring life to them for one night.
Strong, throbbing, vibrant life in it's purest, most intense, most hedonistic form.
In these makeshift spaces, we seek to shed ourselves of the burden of uncertainty for a future you have been unable to stabilise and secure for us.
We seek to relinquish our inhibitions, and free ourselves from the shackle's and restraints you've put on us for your own peace of mind.
We seek to re-write the programming that you have tried to indoctrinate us with since the moment we were born.
Programming that tells us to hate, that tells us to judge, that tells us to stuff ourselves into the nearest and most convenient pigeon hole possible. Programming that even tells us to climb ladders for you, jump through hoops, and run through mazes and on hamster wheels.
Programming that tells us to eat from the shiny silver spoon you are trying to feed us with, instead of nourish ourselves with our own capable hands.
Programming that tells us to close our minds, instead of open them.
Until the sun rises to burn our eyes by revealing the dis-utopian reality of a world you've created for us, we dance fiercely with our brothers and sisters in celebration of our life, of our culture, and of the values we believe in:
Peace, Love, Freedom, Tolerance, Unity, Harmony,
Expression, Responsibility and Respect.
Our enemy of choice is ignorance. Our weapon of choice is information. Our crime of choice is breaking and challenging whatever laws you feel you need to put in place to stop us from celebrating our existence.
You don't have access to that switch, no matter what you may think. The music will never stop. The heartbeat will never fade. The party will never end.
I am a raver, and this is my manifesto.

Any more rave forums/mailing lists for the area?
I'm so new here that I don't even know how big the scene is here, or how big the parties are... but there's not as many conversations going on here as I'm used to.
Is there another website or email list that you guys also use? In CA I'm on SoCal Raves, and candykids.net occasionally... is there anything like that here?

DJ's for the night...
Lee Pennington - *riffraff/Source of Gravity - UK
Middlesbrough may not sound like the epicentre of the music universe, however in October 2003, with his creation of underground club night *riffraff, Lee Pennington put his two feet firmly on the first rung of the DJing ladder. Launched initially as a one-off party, it quickly developed into a monthly event that is for those people who appreciate forward thinking underground electronic music.
Evolving from an old progressive sound, Lee created his raw and diverse style of percussive house and techno. Technically a perfectionist, but still with a warmth and energy that can be felt by the crowd, this mans life revolves around music, as he twists out sounds for dance floors around the globe.
Lee's productions can be found on numerous independent labels both under his own name and from his earlier Section 75 days. October 2009 saw him take the top spot in the 2020Vision remix competition with his mix of 2020Soundsystem's Sliding away. His track was featured on the Space remix Compilation 2009.
Lee can regularly be found spinning his hypnotic beats at some of the UK's best underground events Such as Shindig, BackToBasics, and of course his own *riffraff night, he is also lecturing students on musical technology, as well as, mastering and engineering for artists and labels.
A firm resident at the Zoo Project parties in Ibiza and around Europe, and with *riffraff getting stronger each month, the future looks bright for the man in the flat cap.
