A Funny Story
I was going through some pictures tonight and found one of Kayla when she was in kindergarden. I'll have to scan it an upload it here later. I could not get over how little she looked; when she still had her baby teeth!!!
I remembered a situation that happened one night at home when she was in kindergarden. I had given her a bath and read her a story and was tucking her in and she asked me what "gay" meant.
I paused, just briefly, and then sat back down on the bed and tried to explain to her what it meant in terms I thought she would be able to understand.
I told her that if a person is gay it means that if you are a girl, you also like girls, and if you are a boy, you also like boys. That was not a good enough explanation because then she thought everyone was gay because we all like someone of the same sex. So I went into more detail and explained that it did not mean liking someone as a friend but more like how a mommy and daddy like each other only it would be two ladies or two men.
So then she thought about it for a minute and said, she understood.
I asked her why she wanted to know and who was talking to her about being gay, or where she heard it.
This was her response.
Well, at school we learned a new song and it says,
Robin in the rain, You don't mind the weather. Showers always make you gay.
My face turned red and I immediately said, it can also mean happy!
I reported that back to her teacher who got a good chuckle out of it.

BC Mountains

This is the scene I am so fortunate to have from my house. Kayla and I snapped these one day we were driving up our street. Breathtaking aren't they! We feel very lucky to be able to see these everyday.
Twila MacDonald

This is me in Truro, NS on my dads car when I was about 3 years old! I cannot believe I found this picture. I actually remember living in that green house you see in the picture. I might look all girly in this picture but I was a handful. A real tomboy. I remember falling and cutting my head and my parents rushing me to the hospital. I got 4 stitches that day. I remember the fire department being called to get me out of the Maple Tree we had in our yard. I remember them being called again. And I remember the third time too, because they told my parents if they had to come out again they would have to give them a fine because they could not spend their time retrieving little girls from Maple trees. And then the time my neighbor called to let my older sister know I was on the barn roof. Go figure!!! I liked to climb!
Grade 7 Grad

Kayla and her friends at grade 7 grad.

Grade 7 Graduation
Kayla and Sandra, summer of 2005. Kayla's grade 7 grad. This the first and last time we will ever see Kayla wearing a dress. Well maybe grade 12 grad if we are really lucky. You look so pretty in the dress Kayla.
Sandra and Star you look awesome too. Star looks so tiny there! All in all, a very nice picture of such awesome sisters.
Bellagio
I was in awe of this entire display. I could have snapped pictures all afternoon.
These were taken in October 2008. I thought this was amazing!!! Gorgeous fall display at the Bellagio in October, 2008.
Acadia University

Acadia University is located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Sandra and I were fortunate enough to go visit Wolfville one summer when she was 5 years old. It is quaint and wonderful. The people are amazing and the surroundings are beautiful. I have not had the opportunity to visit there with Kayla yet. Someday when I go back home for a visit perhaps.
Dalhousie

This is just one of the many amazing universities locatedin Nova Scotia. It has over 180 degree programs. I believe Dalhousie has been in Halifax for about 200 years. What you can't see in this picture are all the amazing trees and foilage. It is really quite breath taking.

Maple Trees in Nova Scotia

I've tried to explain to my daughter what the Maple trees are like in the fall in the Maritimes. It's one thing to see them in pictures but to drive down a winding road that is completely lined with them is a sight to behold. You never forget it. The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton is a must see if you ever visit Nova Scotia. And go during the fall.
Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

Breath taking picture. This is Lunenburg. I've been there and it is amazing. The sky is something to behold at sunset. The summers are unbelieveable. And the people are so incredibly nice. A beautiful place to consider for retirement.
Bible Camp at Lake Chilliwack
Lake Chilliwack. Does it get any better than this! What a gorgeous spot. Every summer Kayla goes to Bible Camp here. They are not allowed to bring any type of electronics at all. I love it. They sleep in cabins and have a fire every night. She loves it. And it is an awesome experience for her.

Cavendish

Everyone must exprience this at least once in their lifetime. Cavendish is located in PEI and is the home place of Anne of Green Gables. The beach is breathtaking. It goes on forever, the sand is perfect, and as the picture shows, when the sun starts to set the sight is awesome!!! But be careful. The tide comes in around you so if you are on a sand dune, keep an eye on whether the the tide is coming in or not. If you don't, you'll soon realize that you are surrounded by water. A funny story. When I was about 13 my parents took us camping. I met a couple of girls from somewhere in the US and we got along nicely so hung out together. One morning my parents woke up to their father banging on our cottage door in a panic. He was so frantic he could hardly speak but my father managed to get him to calm down and tell him what was wrong. He kept saying, "the water is gone," "the water is gone." My father did not understand what he meant and kept trying to figure out what he was talknig about. As it turned out, the tide had gone out and he was not aware that it was supposed to. He thought the world was coming to an end or something. Too funny!!! Another funny story. When I was in high school I worked part time at McDonald's. One very hot July day a car came through the drive through with Texas plates and skiis on the roof. It was a young couple, liekly newlyweds, who were in a tither and wanted to know where the snow was. Poor things. I hardly had the heart to tell them that not only were they not going to find any snow, as it was the summer season and Canada does not get snow in the summer, but that they were also about 3000 miles the wrong way if they wanted to go skiing. Now that is just insulting. LOL
