Lazer Extreme

A few months ago, we went to Lazer Extreme! which is within Market Market. Lazer extreme is not like your usual war games like paint ball. Because the game is played indoors and instead of a paintball, you get to use a lazer gun and you need to wear targets around your body as well. Points are determined depending on where you hit your opponent. The targets are on your shoulders, back, stomach and also the gun. You can also get points by “destroying” your opponents base. After the game a score card will be given to you and will show your accuracy, how many hits you got, and your overall score.

At first we thought it would be easy to do, but maneouvering to dark mazes and trying to hit your opponent really needs some extra effort. After the first game we we’re already sweating and need to take a few minutes to recuperate. You can really enjoy playing this game, even for those who are not really that “war-freak” or not really into sci-fi stuff. If you want pure, clean fun with your friends, try lazer extreme.

Tilt shift lens effect - part 2

Tilt shift lens is a very cool effect. Usually done with a real tilt-shift lens, but right now you can achieve this effect with your favorite image editor. I did this with fireworks so it’s not a real perfect effect. But I guess I am near in achieving that with this image and the other post.

Decorating Christmas

As early as September, most pinoy families already adorn their homes and yards with Christmas decors. The most notable and common decor is the star of david, or Christmas lantern. It is the star that the 3 wise men, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar followed so they can worship the baby Jesus. Most pinoy homes would have this “parol” or Christmas lantern and it comes in many shapes and sizes and in different colors as well. Some are lit and some are not.

The use of parol, pronounced as Pah-roll, dates back from the time the spaniards ruled over the Philippines about 400 years ago. Made of bamboo sticks and colored papers to capiz and wires, the parol can be found both in rural and urban areas. From the simplest of parols to the grandest, you would be able to spot one in the Philippines where ever you are. The Christmas spirit will always be alive with the Pinoy as long as you see a parol hanging on every homes.

Let us also try to remember the origin of this Christmas lantern and redirect our focus on the real reason why we celebrate this season.

Tilt-shift effect

This is a nice effect if you don’t own a real tilt-shift lens. This photo is taken at Good Shepherd Convent, Baguio City. We were buying pasalubong and took this shot first because the line was really long that time.

Progress

Metro Manila is the most progressive city in the Philippines, where almost every businesses are located. This picture is taken in Alabang, Muntinlupa City where you can see the on-going construction of the alabang via duct. Sadly progress sometimes come with a price, and this is the price of progress, at least here in the Philippines that is. I hate to say it but our system really has to change. We are progressing alright but backwards.

People in construction, they dig up a hole during the summer and it would take up so long just to prolong the project and it would carry on until the rainy season. Who then perishes for this? Not them but the people, just imagine how many accidents this “pond” can produce. Maybe not a lot to call the attention of the authorities.

I don’t want to sound like I know everything, and I don’t want to blame anyone for this. I just want to voice out that maybe we (as Filipinos) can do better than this. We can do 100x better than this. But it has to start somewhere, it has to start with someone. It has to start with me and you.

Take or Wait

Could we possibly be something like this ourselves? There are 2 things we are similar of (sometimes) with this picture.

This is a shot of prizes inside a game in Storyland, Southmall, where in you put a token/coin in, and you are guaranteed a prize.

Ok why did I asked this question you say? Well first of all sometimes I become like those ball of prizes or whatever we can call them. Just waiting and waiting for something to happen instead of making something to happen.

And another side of this picture is the one who inserts a token and gets a prize. I mean for this machine, you are always guaranteed a prize, but that is not quite true in the real world. Well, you are guaranteed results, but results can be good or bad. And you can not choose your prize because it’s always random, chance chooses it for you.

As for me, I’d rather be the chance-taker, but I also want to wait sometime and see what will happen. So both can be a good thing if you don’t do everytime. You just have to make the right choices. Maybe sometimes you have to move and do something, and sometimes you just have to wait.

I’ve learned about that this past few months. Either you take it or wait. Sometimes it is good to take it, and sometimes it is good to wait as well.

Well, I think it’s always up to you to decide to take or wait.
