Nikon Coolpix P100 A Review

Nikon Coolpix P100

There is a new Nikon model in the market the Nikon Coolpix P100. Its really quite extraordinary, you have many shooting options which are built around a high-speed CMOS sensor, and a 26x megazoom lens. With this camera, you get photo and video shooting on high speeds, and the opportunity to play around with fun modes, plus you can experiment as much as you want. Add to that the fact that you get 1080p HD-quality movie recording. The Nikon Coolpix P100 has easy-to-operate controls; you just need some time to get used to them by reading the manual. The camera itself costs a fair amount, approximately 400 dollars quite a large sum of money for many people. It weighs about 17 ounces, is of 10 megapixels, and comes with a 3-inch LCD screen.

So hows the P100 different from the P90? Well, the zoom has been extended to 26x (so you can see really far ahead of you), and while the P90 had 12-megapixel CCD sensor, this particular model has a backside-illuminated 10-megapixel CMOS sensor. This improves the speed of shooting, and the level of noise in low-light photos is considerably reduced. In fact, you also get the option of a few specialty shooting modes. The feel of this P100 camera is rather good; its also a compact model. Its a good grip, and the camera itself has sensor-shift image stabilization, which Nikon refers to as Optical VR. This stabilization minimizes the level of blur, and if you combine this with Nikons Best Shot Selector, you stand a much better chance of a sharp shot of a stationary subject.

The Nikon Coolpix P100 also has a rather good electronic viewfinder, and if you want to frame up your shots, then that too is possible with a vari-angle LCD. This pulls out of the body, and can be tilted up or down, but it doesnt swing out from the body horizontally. The controls of the camera are responsive and also comfortably placed. Youll find the Mode Dial, power button, and the shutter release with zoom ring on the top. At the left of the EVF, youll find the button for moving from information viewing on the EVF or LCD and a diopter adjustment dial.

On the right of that is a Display button which allows you to change the information you view on the display, there is also a Movie record button which a switch, that allows you to choose what kind of video you would like to shoot high speed or regular. There is also a horizontal dial which allows you to change aperture settings and shutter speed; you can also zip through images and videos in playback.

The P100 is a decent buy because you get many shooting options right from full manual and semi-manual options with shutter speeds from 8 seconds to 1/2000 second, and an aperture range of 10 steps of 1/3 exposure value. You also get many scene modes, as well as auto scene recognition and subject-tracking autofocus meant for moving subjects.

No More Glasses for the New Nintendo Game

Nintendo has gone another step forward and released a new kind of game for the Dsi in Japan. This game is in 3D and utilizes different kinds of technology. The game has cameras which are inbuilt and these cameras monitor the position of your eyes as relative to both the screens. As a result, a 3D world is created along with the position of your head. Thus, the concept of depth illusion has been used really well.

The technology is used in a very ingenious fashion. The front inbuilt camera is used to monitor and keep up the position of the eyes in line with the angle of the two screens in the game. As a result the 3D illusion world which is created is synchronized with the eyes. The perspective of viewing this world changes along with the viewpoint of the eyes. Nintendo has done away with the often cumbersome 3D glasses.

Google Street View to be enhanced yearly

Google Street View

Google is looking to develop the features of its Street View and further enhance it by refreshing the images every year from now on. This decision was prompted by the fact that urban landscapes are in a state of flux at all times. To be able to keep up with this constant changes happening in the cities, this move was decided upon by Google.

In the same vein, the European Union is reviewing certain regulations concerned with the way Google is trying to make images of the cities of the world available on the World Wide Web for everyone to see. The EU want to know more about Google’s retention policy concerning the Street View Image.

According to Google, the Street View Images should be retained for a year. However, according to the European Union, the officials think that the period of one year is too long and want it to be shortened to six months. Also, the EU wants Google to put out notices in the media so that people know when the company will send their Street View cameras to take the pictures of the cities in general.

PayPal will finally be back in India!

Lots of people all over the country will be heaving a sigh of relief as PayPal will finally be resuming their services back in India from the 3rd of March.

Thousands of people all over the country had their transactions reversed as a result of PayPal blocking all transactions coming in and out of Indian accounts. This started happening almost three weeks back with eBay.

This event sparked massive outrage and especially so on counts of racism and many other allegations that were alleged against the corporation. Last week, further developments took place as PayPal was compelled to stop all personal transactions by the Reserve Bank of India. This was because of some issues with compliance of regulations. However, things seem to be taking a turn for the better as PayPal will probably resume their services by the third of this month, and especially their bank withdrawal functions.

There will be some new rules however and now all Indian customers will have to fill in an extra detail called Export Code while requesting for a withdrawal. This is being done in compliance with Indian laws concerning any form of cross border financial transactions.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410 A Review

ThinkPad T410

The new Lenovo ThinkPad T410 is the very latest in its range of business notebooks. This 14.1 inch laptop, with its Core i5 CPU and sleek design, promises high levels of performance. The design of this particular laptop is rather nice the sides are angularly shaped, and there is a new stylish keyboard/LCD light layout. The system, as a result, looks not only attractive but also more modern. This laptop also promises to be more durable, because of the materials used. The lid in the chassis is made from ABS plastic and a strong carbon-fiber reinforced plastic bottom. And if you are worried about your notebook getting damaged, dont worry as there is an internal roll cage.

This laptop weighs about 5.2 pounds, there is a standard 6-cell battery, in size and weight its almost equivalent to the Lenovo ThinkPad T400, but this one is different in the sense that it is more compact, and far easier to carry around. This is probably due to the tapered edges as well as the plastic bottom.

You will see the ThinkPad logo on the black rubberized screen, the shiny matte-black chassis and palm rest are also there as with previous models, and of course, the strong and visible stainless steel screen hinges are also there. But there are more ports than with previous models, and also some new types of connections. The bottom of the laptop has also changed there is now a user-access panel which allows you to install more RAM, or even a wireless card, without having to open up your notebook.

Overall, the build still seems more or less the same but there are a few negative things to say here. Firstly, the screen lid seems a little weak on the left side thus pressure applied to the lid shows as distortion of the LCD. This is just true for the left side of the screen cover, though. Another point is the access panel at the bottom this is quite weak because it bows slightly when installed, and flexes much more than any surrounding panel. Perhaps a metal panel might have worked, who knows?

All the T410 models come with LED backlighting now. But there hasnt been much change in the increase or decrease of display quality, from the previous models. There is good color reproduction as well as contrast, on the WXGA screen, but unfortunately there is a slight blue tint as compared to a neutral white. The speakers are also of pretty good quality you can easily fill a small room with the sound, but the bass and the midrange seem a little low.

The keyboard is also pretty much the same but there is a new function key layout, for example the Escape and Delete buttons have been increased in size, and a backlit power button and a microphone mute button have also been added. In fact, if you are one of those people who like the Control key being the last in the row, there is a new feature which allows you to change the Function and Control keys through specific software!
