Almost all know about Vikram’s acting abilities but few know he is a talented singer as well. The actor sings for his forthcoming film, ‘Kanthaswamy’, directed by Susi. Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli Thanu.
Music director Devi Sri Prasad has persuaded Vikram to lend his voice for one of his compositions for this film. The song that starts as ‘Excuse me Mr. Kanthasamy…’ is sung by Vikram and Suchitra. The spicy song, which features Vikram and Shriya will be shot in Mexico. Vikram sings the same song in the Telugu version as well.

Chiranjeevi To Launch Political Party!

The political scene in Andhra Pradesh is set to change dramatically with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi planning to launch his political party in August, a close aide has said.
The actor’s brother-in-law and filmmaker Allu Arvind told newsmen here that Chiranjeevi is likely to launch his party on August 22, his birthday.
Arvind made the statement during a rally by Chiranjeevi National Trade Union Congress (CNTUC), a trade union in the actor’s name. The rally was organised to appeal to the actor to join politics.
When the rally reached Geeta Arts office in up market Jubilee Hills, Allu Arvind came out to make the statement.
“Responding to appeals from different sections of the community, I am sure, he will definitely enter politics. He has taken a firm and clear decision and he will personally make an announcement,” he said.
This is the clearest ever statement from Arvind, a close confidante of Chiranjeevi, since speculations on the actor’s plunge into politics began a few months ago.
“Some people are asking why he is taking such a long time. Politics is too big an issue and he is taking a reasonable time. He doesn’t take hasty decisions. He thinks and takes a correct decision,” said Arvind.
“We thank you. It is not just the trade union but the students, women, IT professional, lawyers and doctors all want him to come to politics,” he said.
Sources close to the actor said the party would be called Labour Party and its symbol would be a train.
“We are at a railway platform. We are waiting for a train that will take us to the right destination,” Arvind had said in January.
“When will your train arrive,” a scribe had asked Chiranjeevi on Thursday after he cast his vote in the by-elections. “Allu Arvind is taking care of the train issue. Address your queries to him,” the actor had replied.
It was in November last year that one of his close aides claimed that he had decided to launch a party. The speculations led to his fans holding meetings in different parts of the state to urge him to make an early announcement.
Chiranjeevi, however, came out with a statement a few days later appealing to his fans to remain patient till he made an announcement. Continuing the suspense, the actor had said in January that he needed more time to take a decision.
People are drawing a parallel with thespian N.T. Rama Rao’s political entry in 1982. He had come to power within nine months of launching Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Chiru, as Chiranjeevi is popularly known, has dominated the Telugu film industry for over two decades. One of the highest paid actors in India, Chiru has massive fan following across the state.

Kerala Welcomes Rajinikant

Tamil superstar Rajnikant, who is here for shooting his latest Tamil film ‘Kuselan’, seemed surprised at the huge fan following he has in this Kerala town.

The film is directed by P.Vasu.
The shooting is taking place in the backwaters and two snake-boats have been hired for the song sequence.
A huge security cordon has been thrown around the superstar.
The over-enthusiastic fans of Rajnikant even got onto the boats and reached closer to the star.

He will spend the next two days here to complete the shooting of the song sequence.
Ram Gopal Varma Starts Blogging!

After actors Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, it is now the turn of ace director Ram Gopal Varma to be bitten by the blog bug.
Blogging is fun, says Varma, who had sworn he would never blog. ‘But blogging sounded like so much fun. It sounded like a very naughty activity,’ Varma, who started his blog site rgvzoomin.com this week, told IANS.
‘Besides, everyone who is worth anything these days is blogging. I couldn’t be left out, could I?’ reasons the man who loves to do the unpredictable.
Varma admits he was influenced by Amitabh. In fact, the mega star urged the director to take the plunge.
‘At first I laughed off the very thought of starting my own blog. I kept wondering how Amitji would sustain the blog on a day-to-day basis. Then I saw how passionately devoted he was to it. I grew interested,’ said Varma, who is set to release his ‘Sarkar Raj’ June 6.
The political thriller features Amitabh along with his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.
However, Varma makes it very clear that his intentions and purpose for starting a blog are very different from the Big B.
‘The Big B’s big blog is a full on day-to-day affair. He talks about his day-to-day activities. I think he basically sees it as a platform to express his thoughts unhampered and to communicate his thoughts with his audience. I won’t be going to rgvzoomin.com every day.
‘I’ve neither the urge to tell the world what I’m doing with my private space nor the time or patience. And catch me carrying a laptop to my set to indulge my mental blog. I lose my cellphone every month. I’d have to spend a fortune buying new laptops.’
Here, then is the blog’s raison d’etre for Varma.
‘It’s to express my thoughts on my films. For instance, everyone thought ‘Nishabd’ was based on ‘Lolita’ when it was not. If I had my blog at that time, I could’ve explained why it wasn’t ‘Lolita’. At the moment I’m taken up with ‘Sarkar Raj’. So I’ve started by sharing my thoughts on ‘Sarkar Raj’. Next, I’ll start discussing my other new film ‘Contract’.’
Does the presence of the print medium now become redundant for Varma?
‘Not at all. I’ll be carrying on a conversation with myself on the blog. The process of thought expression becomes very different when questions are thrown at you. I don’t see my blog as a substitute for interviews. And I think my calculated quotable quotes would go to waste if I were to put them on my blog.’
How often will Varma visit his blog?
‘Certainly not every day. I’ll have someone to monitor the inputs and if I think a query needs to be answered, I’ll do so.’

Salman Dances at the IPL final!

Though Shah Rukh Khan was not there, fellow Bollywood actor Salman Khan danced with a bevy of starlets to popular chartbusters amid razzmatazz, setting the tempo before the start of the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) final between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals here Sunday.
Salman, always a crowd puller, had the audience swaying as he performed to songs from his forthcoming film with an entourage of 24 dancers in the background. Kim Sharma, Shamita Shetty, Dia Mirza and Sameera Reddy also shared the stage with him at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Nerul.
They also danced to the theme songs of the eight teams that participated in the first edition of the IPL.
His performance was followed by those from four trampoline acrobats, eight German wheels and eight German spinning wheels.
The multi-million-dollar IPL opened in Bangalore April 18 with similar touches of glamour, leading to the ‘cricketainment’ that inaugurated the new chapter in the history of the game.
A laser show with 40 giant flames, followed by four para gliders and a fifth stunt man preceded the finale which had 16 dancers, all stunt artists.
Then it was the turn of the battery of IPL commentators, who made their presence felt in multi-coloured kurta-pyjamas.
Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar led the team of commentators, which also had Ravi Shastri, Arun Lal, Damien Fleming of Australia and Rameez Raja from Pakistan.
Speeches from International Cricket Council (ICC) president David Morgan, Indian cricket board president Sharad Pawar and IPL chief Lalit Modi over, it was time for folk dances.
Ayesha Takia The Actor!

Young and chirpy actress Ayesha Takia considers Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Dor’, a poignant tale of two women, as the path-breaking film of her career. She says after the movie, people started taking her seriously as an actor.
“After ‘Dor’, viewers showed the confidence that I could play serious roles too and so I was offered roles in films like ‘Eight By Ten’ and ‘Wanted’ and many other big movies,” Ayesha told us.
Ayesha is on the verge of completing another Kukunoor film titled ‘Eight By Ten’.
“Ten days of shooting is left. It also stars Akshay Kumar,” said Ayesha who plays Akshay’s wife in the supernatural thriller.
Her next release is ‘De Taali’, which will be showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, starting June 6 in Bangkok.
Talking about the film, the dimpled actress said: “The character is totally in contrast to what I am in actual life. I play Ammu who is a complete tomboy. She is a complete brat and grows up with Aftab Shivdasani and Reitesh Deshmukh. She does what normally guys do.”
Apart from ‘De Taali’, she has Boney Kapoor’s ‘Wanted Dead and Alive’, which marks southern dancing superstar Prabhu Deva’s entry into Hindi films as director.
The film is a remake of Tamil film ‘Pokkiri’, which was also directed by Prabhu Deva. In the action movie, Ayesha is paired with Salman Khan. Mahesh Manjrekar and Om Puri too feature in key roles.
The actress is also doing Ahmed Khan’s film on four children titled ‘Pathshala’ where she and Shahid Kapur play teachers.
Though ‘Tarzan - The Wonder Car’, for which she won the best debutant actress award in 2004, was released before ‘Socha Na Tha,’ Ayesha considers Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy as her debut film.
She said: “‘Socha Na Tha’ will always be my first film and close to my heart.’Tarzan’ was an entertaining film but ‘Socha Naa Tha’ had a lot of space for acting.’
Was she approached for Imtiaz’s second film ‘Jab We Met’?
“Initially, Bobby and I were supposed to do the film, but the dates did not work out between us. But, I look forward to working with Imtiaz.”
The actress faced the camera for the first time when she was four years old for an ad and later she did quite a few commercials and music videos.
How difficult was it to gain entry into films? “It was not at all difficult. I did not go looking for work. Imtiaz went through my audition tapes and called me to his office.”
Ayesha feels that making an entry is not at all difficult if one has the talent and is ready to work hard.
So far Ayesha has worked mainly with new directors - does she have a preference for them?
“I don’t have any preferences and I cannot afford it. It is just that the offers came from them. And it is always an exciting experience as new directors are always enthusiastic and hard working and give everything for the project as they know that their life depends on the project.”
Did she plan to be an actress as a child?
“I was raised in a normal Gujarati style with all the restrictions and reservations. As far as plans are concerned, I did not have plans to become an actress in my childhood.”
About a favourite co-star, Ayesha said: “I am not being diplomatic, I enjoyed working with all of them. Also, I am a very professional type of person. I finish my work and go home. I have no favourites, I enjoyed working with all of them.”
Apparently Ayesha makes producers sign a contract on her reservations about intimate and steamy scenes.
She said: “Yes, I do sign a contract with every producer and mother has nothing to do with it. I have lived life according to my own principles and ideologies and I adhere to it.”
The 23-year-old has done various roles ranging from comedy to serious characters, but prefers romantic movies. “I would like to do romantic films most and my second preference would be serious roles. Though I am not comfortable with stunts, I would definitely like to do an action film like ‘Tomb Raider’.”
She is dating Farhan Azmi and has started a boutique hotel business with him, but has no immediate plans to marry him.
“I want to work and don’t have any plans to marry now.”
