2001 BMW 740il

The 2001 BMW 740il is a perfect example of a pure BMW. The 7 series has always fascinated me, as it never seems to get old. The style the power is up to modern expectations. If you need performance the e38(740il) has it, if you need style the e38 has it. E38 is the chassis name, mainly used by BMW enthusiasts and is the proper name for the 7 series. The e38 comes in many different packages, a sport edition, a luxury edition, both exceed to great expectations. The 740il carries a V8 engine which produces 282 hp, and 324 torque. The car mainly known for it's luxurious style, but BMW puts in all it's might and makes it a mean, fighting machine. The handling of the car is superb, talking from experience, and gets up to top speed in a glance. Overall the 2001 BMW 740il is just a perfect car, one of the most reliable BMW's ever produced.

New Ferrari California revealed: a hugely versatile, innovation-packed GT

Maranello, May 13th 2008 - The first official photographs have been published of the Ferrari California, the latest addition to the new generation of Ferraris launched in 2004 with the 612 Scaglietti and added to more recently with the 430 Scuderia.

2006 Gumpert Apollo

Once the son of the god of war Zeus, responsible for the victory and the template for masculine beauty, he is now the namesake of the breathtakingly uncompromising super sports car that combines aesthetics and function like no other.

The Gumpert Apollo is the perfect synthesis of a road vehicle and track car. It evokes passion and driving pleasure beyond all expectations. With 650 bhp, 224 mph top speed and acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 3 seconds, you would have to go a long way to find an alternative to Apollo. The complete package is available in a cost-benefit ratio that cannot be matched in this exclusive vehicle class. As a pure high-performance sports car with racing qualities that is also approved for use on the road, the Gumpert Apollo sets new standards.

2007 Audi S8

Audi S8 has always been one of my favorite luxury sedan. Although you can't say they copy Mercedes or BMW they have a style of their own. Providing comfort with performance and style. With a ration of 40:60 (front/rear) the new s8 is an idealistic performance car, that carries Audi's first V10, with an all famous quattro all wheel drive system, stabilizing control and handles of the vehicle. The engine provides 450 hp and 400 torque and can do 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The price is not as much as I thought it would, after all it competing with other luxury performance vehicles, the pricing starts at $92,000 compared to a BMW 760li which is $122,000, also a V12 and does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. The 760li in result is just a little bit slower off the line.

Lamborghini Reventon Arrives in Las Vegas

Sometimes people say the best gifts come in small packages. We beg to differ, because if someone were to deliver us the big 'ol box you see above, we'd probably think it was the best gift ever. In that box is Lamborghini Reventon number one of twenty. Apparently, it's the only example which will be sold privately via a traditional dealership -- in this case, Lamborghini of Las Vegas. The other nineteen were all spoken for before ever leaving the factory. If you're a Zsports Cars reader vacationing in Vegas, you know what to do if you jackpot one of those hundred-dollar slots.

2008 Honda S2000 CR

Finally an S2000 worth the money. Now more track oriented, better suspension, faster, brought all together in new bodywork. Still a four cylinder but produces a good amount of hp(237), and torque(163) and the best thing is it comes with a 6 Speed Manual Transmission. The new S2000 CR is much more stiffer, aggresive than previos models. This is the S2000 the Honda enthusiasts have been waiting for.

The Need for Swede - 1988 BMW E30 Turbo

Think Sweden and what pops to mind ... meatballs, IKEA furniture, and the Swedish bikini team? Meatballs: Italians do it better. IKEA: they provide stylishly disposable furniture for the masses and more Allen wrenches than any other entity on earth. The Swedish bikini team: well they might have one up on us there. Those ladies definitely rev our engines.
Although Mikael and Erik Kilander of Falkoping, Sweden, surely appreciate their home-grown bikini team, they're focused on revving engines of the traditional kind: the kind you make with pistons, fuel and boost. They're such huge fans of horsepower that they follow the imaginary Ten Commandments of Tuning, especially the first two: "Thou shall swap in bodacious engines at will;" and, "Thou shall boost the bejesus out of said engine without hesitation." The Brothers Kilander have followed these two axioms with impressive results, making us wonder if their next miracle will be something like walking on water or parting the Baltic Sea.

Their story begins in a typical fashion: two 20-something brothers are looking for a project car. It starts as something innocuous, but is morphed into something obnoxious. The platform in question is a well-worn 1988 325i and the post-morph product has an M3 body and M5 soul.
Cracking open the hood reveals an S38B38 3.8-liter inline six scavenged from a 1991-1993-vintage M5. These are the pristine E34 M5s hand-built in Germany with motors that are rated at 310 hp. That's 70 hp better than an E36 M3, and 28 hp more than an E39 540i with a V8. The S38B38s are rare birds and require diligent maintenance - especially where the valvetrain is concerned - but they're fast and will last. To prepare the M5 bullet for boost Mikael and Erik o-ringed the block and used a custom copper head gasket to enhance the sealing properties of the engine. The reciprocating assembly consists of a stock crank, Mahle 7.8:1 compression forged pistons produced to Kilander specs and stock rods modified by the Kilander's.

The brothers fabbed up a sweet turbo header that positions the turbo in such a way that it looks very much like a 2JZ Supra with a single turbo conversion. The first turbo to see duty on the Bavarian bruiser was a Volvo truck turbo. The home-grown Volvo turbo was soon replaced by a Turbonetics T72 that had a lot more on the ball. The remainder of the turbo system consists of a 50 mm Rosenkrantz wastegate, a custom downpipe, a 3.25-inch exhaust system and one of the largest intercoolers we have ever laid eyes on. The Kilander's took two gargantuan Iveco truck intercoolers, joined them together and then welded up custom end tanks to seal the deal. It looks like an intercooler with the front of a BMW wrapped around it. The unit, which measures 1080x140x250 mm, dominates the front of the car and sends a raucous message to the viewing public.

Fueling has been addressed with a SX Performance high-flow fuel pump, SX adjustable regulator and 960cc Rochester injectors. The system is fed via a 17-liter fuel cell mounted in the trunk.
Along with the M5 engine swap the E30 was fitted with an M5 transmission, a 325/535 driveshaft shortened for this application, 535 axles and a rear end with a 3.07 final drive and LSD that the Kilander's fitted with extra discs to withstand the brute torque of the pressurized powerplant. The clutch is a Kilander special using an OE single-mass flywheel, an organic disc and a harsher racing-spec sinter disc.

While the running gear was fortified with M5 components, the body and suspension received M3 hardware. A full E30 M3 suspension was swapped in and improved with Sachs coilovers. M3 front fenders add aggressiveness and 40 mm in the rear. Rieger GTS series front and rear bumpers further add to the car's visual impact. The front set-up has been opened up to ensure maximum airflow across the intercooler. Modified M3 rocker skirts, newer E36 side mirrors and smoked taillamps round out the body-tuning program.
While on the subject of tuning, the Kilander's rely on an Autronics SM2 stand alone ECU with an Autronics CDI ignition to pump out power and reliability. The SM2 can provide sequential injection for engine from two to eight cylinders. Tuning is programmed at 32 rpm-based sites and 16 load-based sites and the unit has auxiliary outputs that can be used for boost control, nitrous control and staged injection to name a few. Traction control, datalogging and launch control are also within the SM2's realm of possibility.

The brothers got the Turbonetics-boosted set-up for a street-tuned vehicle and had it shipped from Cali to the land of Swedish Fish candy. Next they yanked the motor and called on VM Performance for some engine-stand dyno tuning. The Motorsport powerplant dished out 700 bhp, but monitoring of backpressure indicated there was substantial power still on the table. So the Turbonetics hairdryer was replaced with a Holset/Schwitzer truck-to-car hybrid. DSM fans have used a Holset HX-35 off a 2002-up Dodge Cummins diesel with good results. The Kilander's wanted to keep their exact turbo set-up top secret (however, we speculate it is HX-55 based) and since Schwitzer has been acquired by Borg Warner Turbos it is difficult to get the proper information. But the bottom line is this turbo sings a siren's song indeed; and with additional laptop time, and some Swedish magic, the Autronic SM2 coaxed a jaw-dropping 875 bhp at 5000 rpm from the S38B38. Torque checked in at 932 lb-ft at 3900 rpm. The power pulls were made running 1.65 Bar (just over 24 psi) using VP CSP race fuel.

The interior of the E30 is fully streetcar in appearance with a custom aluminum center dash console housing some much needed gauges and boost control interfaces. A Cobra Monaco sport bucket, Sabelt five-point harness and a roll bar add edginess to the driving experience.
Driving this Bavarian beast is quite an experience. For kicks the Kilanders took the Bimmer out to the strip when it was in Turbonetics trim and clicked off a 10.44 at 141 mph. This impressive effort is really brought into critical focus when you consider the Mickey T drag tires were spinning for more than half the pass. With the 875 bhp set-up and some suspension tuning this could be a nine-second wolf in sheep's clothing.

2007 BMW Alpina B7

The effect is one of subtle performance emphasis, fully appropriate to the 7 Series’ elegant and substantial presence but leaving no doubt that this is a special performance 7.
Inside the B7: Special Instrumentation and Controls Any

7 Series BMW offers its driver and passengers lavish luxury, fine materials and tasteful design. To this sumptuous ambiance, Alpina adds its own touches, both ergonomic and esthetic; the level of regular-production BMW standard equipment has been raised considerably as well.

Special Alpina features. First and foremost, it’s performance that characterizes the B7. And once seated behind the special Alpina steering wheel, the B7 driver is quickly and keenly aware of this emphasis.

Upon stepping in over the handsome B7 doorsill trims and setting his or her foot on the fine floormat with its Alpina logo, the driver can assess an instrument cluster with the traditional Alpina Blue as its background color and Alpina lettering at bottom right. Four readings from the iDrive system’s On-board Computer can be called up conveniently via a button on the turn-signal stalk: remaining fuel in tank, range on fuel, distance to destination and a digital display of current vehicle speed.

The steering wheel itself presents distinctive visual character and function: in its center, the Alpina logo; on its rim Lavalina leather and special stitching, plus symbols for the SWITCH-TRONIC transmission’s upshift and downshift buttons. These “+” and “-“ inscriptions are in Alpina Blue, and denote the actual locations of the shift buttons on the wheel’s forward side (away from the driver).

Audi has sold 1.5 million units of its successful A3 model since market launch in 1996. The jubilee car of the compact model built in Ingolstadt is destined for the US market. It is an A3 3.2 quattro in Misano Red, with a 3.2-litre V6 engine generating an output of 250 hp and 236 ft.-lbs. of torque."

The Audi A3 can boast outstanding quality in its class and has hallmarked the market by being the first real premium car in the compact class", says Frank Dreves, Audi Plant Manager in Ingolstadt. Along with the A3, Audi also builds the A4, the A4 Avant and the body of the new Audi TT at its Ingolstadt plant. Further future-oriented models, in the guise of the A5 midsize coup and the Audi Q5 SUV, are designated to be built at the Ingolstadt plant.

Production of the Audi A3 began at the Ingolstadt plant in 1996. The second generation of the A3 followed in 2003, and June 2004 saw the launch of the five-door A3. At the moment, more than 800 units of the A3 leave the production halls each day and are sent out to customers all over the world. Almost 127,000 units of the Audi A3 were sold worldwide in the first half of 2006 alone. This represents a growth rate of 16.3 percent compared with the same period of last year.

The Audi A3 has made a very significant contribution to the overall success of the brand. "The outstanding way in which the A3 has progressed is thanks to its highly motivated and well-qualified team of workers", Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council at AUDI AG points out. With just under 463,500 vehicles sold in the first half of 2006, Audi has achieved a growth rate up 9.8 percent compared with the same period of last year.

2008 Maserati Gran Turismo

I have never really noticed Maserati until now. The new Gran Turismo is something to look at, it is not noticeable, but when it's noticed it is noticed by the people who know the car and know what it's worth. The Maserati has a 405 hp V8 engine, like most exotics it is a rear wheel drive, that gives very well handles which the Maserati is know for, but the most wonderful thing about is it has enough seats for four adults.

2008 BMW AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport
I've always loved the way AC Schnitzer tunes their cars, it's simple but at the same time they make the car look extraordinary. Here we have the BMW 3 series, that is light weight and a spectacular engine, with a mighty suspension. This is a perfect race car. It does 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds, that is fast. The bodykits are made from a high quality material, none of that cheap fiberglass stuff. Options include a sports airbag and a carbon interior trim.
Performance
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 4.6 Seconds

Jaguar Goes Into a New Direction
Jaguar's business has not been going well for the past 10 years, so they have decided to go into a new direction. The 2009 Jaguar XF a 4 seated luxury sports car, the exterior is a sporty, muscular and dynamic which was inspired by the XK. The interior maximizes the feeling of space, at same time making it a sports car. The new XF is a dramatic expression of a bold new Jaguar design language, with a driving experience that exceeds expectations created by the striking appearance: relaxed and confident, with outstanding ability and control. I believe the XF will help Jaguar's to grow in a better direction.

2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo
The Cayenne Turbo has always been on my good side. It is one of the SUV's that I like best, it comes second on my list after the BMW X5. The 2008 Cayenne has a new design, with a larger but more efficient engine. It feels better and more expensive than the X5, but less sporty. It has a twin-turbocharged 4.8 liter engine that produces 500 horsepower and 516 torque. And goes from a standing start to 60 miles per hour in just 4.9 seconds. Top speed on the test track has been recorded at 171 mph.

2006 TVR Sagaris
The TVR Sagaris looks as though it was designed by a 5 year old kid, made with no safety features at all. That's right it has no belts, no airbags, that's too bad though, that means we can't have it here in North America. Designed by a team in Russia, the TVR Sagaris is the true meaning of a performance vehicle. It's engine is an inline-6 which produces over 400 horsepower and 310 torque. The TVR Sagaris goes from 0-60 in a mere 3.7 seconds and reaches the top speed of 195 mph. The car is extremely light, weighing a little more than 2000 lbs, thanks to the tubular steel chassis.

2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe
The new Infinit G37 Coupe made it's debut at the International Auto Show 2007 in New York City. It combines performance and luxury, making the ideal sports car. The style, performance, and modern interior is brought to new levels with the 2008 Inifiniti G37. Among the new features it has larger, stronger engine, a V6 that produces 330 break horsepower and 270 pound torque. Handling and ride performance increases for the new model. 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR
The Shelby GT500KR doesn't look much different than, the Ford Mustang, so I don't know why they gave it a different name. The GT500KR is crowned the King of the Roads of 2008, and celebrates it's 40th anniversary. The GT500KR V8 Supercharged engine produces 510 torque and 540 horsepower. 2008 BMW M5
In the tradition of BMW M, the exterior styling of the new M5 follows the "wolf in sheep's clothing" philosophy. The casual observer may not, at first glance, recognize the M5's performance potential. The less casual observer instantly will. The modified front spoiler and rear apron are instant giveaways. So too are the modified side sills. The wheel arches are more prominent in order to house the generous wheel and tire package. Following BMW M's recent traditions, the new M5 has more aerodynamic exterior mirrors, four tailpipes and exclusive wheels. Similar to the latest M3, the M5 features exclusive gills incorporated into the front fenders.

2009 Mercedes-Benz SL63
The new Mercedes -Benz SL63 replaces our favorite roadster the SL55, now without a supercharger we have a 6.2 liter V8, that produces 518 horsepower and 738 torque. The styling has gone in a good direction although the rear still looks the same. The exterior now has more deep vents, a wider grill and an AMG body kit. One of the best features is that you can have a convertible from a coupe in 16 seconds, meaning your hard top can come down with a touch of a button. At the heart of the new AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sports transmission is a new start-up clutch, which runs in an oil bath and replaces a conventional torque converter. Fit with four modes " C" for comfort, "S" for sport, "S+" for Sport Plus and "M" for manual. Again Mercedes-Benz provides us with super car, with the features of an S class.

The new Corvette ZR1, has a supercharged V8 with 620 horsepower and 595 torque, it is extra light with a new carbon fiber roof top and is the first Corvette to reach 200 mph. It is exceptionally better than the Porsche 911 GT2, the Ferrari 599 and even the Lamborghini LP640. It is built on a small block V8 which we all love, and handles superbly, has the same chassis as a Z06, but with different suspension giving it better handling. Has widened carbon fiber fenders for the all famous wide tires of the corvette with profile of 335/25 in the back and 285/30 in the front.
