Payless Car Rental Launches iPhone and iPod Touch Portal

Saint Petersburg, Florida May 14, 2008 -- Payless Car Rental (http://www.PaylessCarRental.com) has launched an iPhone and iPod Touch optimized website.

Payless Car Rental, a low-cost rental car company providing exceptional value to travelers, is one of the first car rental agencies to build a customized version of its website for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

quot;Payless saw the need to create a slimmed-down version of its new website for the iPhone and iPod Touch community,quot; said Jeff Lin, Project Leader of Payless#039; web marketing strategy team. quot;Payless#039; iPhone interface adds convenience and loads up faster than a full website would on an iPhone or iPod Touch,quot; he added. quot;By pointing their iPhone or iPod Touch to http://www.PaylessCarRental.com, iPhone and iPod Touch users can book a car in just three easy steps.quot;

iPhone users make up nearly one-third of smartphone users in the U.S., and the Safari browser is already the most popular mobile browser in the United States. Since Apple launched the iPhone last June, the iPhone has catapulted to number two in U.S. smartphone market share, trailing only Research In Motion#039;s Blackberry.

The homepage of Payless#039; iPhone interface also features a quot;Call to Bookquot; button that, when pressed, will connect the customer to Payless#039; call center, where the customer can book over the phone, instead of through the interface.

Another section includes links to the store locations#039; contact information and maps--features that could come in quite handy while traveling.

Payless has collaborated with Arising Group, an innovative software development team in New York, to enhance the Payless website using Web 2.0 features such as Web Standards and AJAX.

WorksForWeb Introduces Multi-Language Versions of iAuto and iRealty

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan May 15, 2008 - WorksForWeb (WFW), a software development team that authored several popular classifieds products, has recently announced the release of new versions of iAuto and iRealty with multi-language support.

Website localization (single language interface) and internationalization (multi-language interface) have been the challenges few classified scripts were able to address until recently. The main issue was to provide a seamless integration of translation mechanisms into the website environment.

The market demanded an easy-to-use tool to generate classified websites in more than one language, and WFW responded to that challenge by releasing v.4.3 of their popular platform that iAuto, an auto classifieds script, and iRealty, a real estate listing script, are both based on.

From the onset, the development team had faced a tremendous task of integrating a multi-language user interface into the platform while keeping the system extremely flexible, customizable and not too different from its current version to facilitate upgrades. The team managed to accomplish that, having studied various localization/internationalization approaches and adapting the best software development practices.

One of the key achievements was to develop multi-language support for iAuto and iRealty based on the language files in XML format that would store language-specific translation. To avoid any issues with multiple meanings of certain words in various contexts, WFW managed to introduce a mechanism of context-based domains that cater for grammar and vocabulary specifics of various foreign languages.

The system offers assisted translation into another language by highlighting phrases that need to be translated, creation of new languages in the admin and a seamless switch to another language on the user side. A simple xml lang file export/import mechanism is also available.

The immediate plans for further system improvement and perfection are to gather user feedback and introduce a comprehensive lang file import/export routine to replace the simple one already developed.

quot;We are finally able to answer the pleas of our international customers who liked our products but were unable to use them because iAuto or iRealty would not work with several languages. We are hoping to attract new customers from Europe, Asia, and South and Latin Americas by giving them easy tools for generating websites in their languages. We are growing our partner network in the target regions,quot; says Rodion Telpizov, Director. quot;iAuto and iRealty are now ready for an expansion on the markets worldwide.quot;

WorksForWeb is a dynamic team actively engaged in pursuing technological innovations and improvements, providing comprehensive classifieds solutions for clients worldwide. Plans for the immediate future include the extension of multi-language support to iLister, general classifieds software. Another goal is to create a unique platform that would offer a simple template modification interface of iLister for the market specifics of iAuto and iRealty.

International classifieds markets provide ample expansion opportunities, and the company considers offering customized solutions for clients in Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Oceania, actively seeking partners in the Web development communities of those regions.

DASI Solutions Sponsors Lawrence Technological University#039;s Formula SAE Team with SolidWorks for International Competition in Brooklyn, Michigan

Pontiac, MI May 15, 2008 -- DASI Solutions has donated SolidWorks to the Lawrence Tech Engineering Department for many years to enhance its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiative in the community with SolidWorks matching the donations. These donations have allowed the teams to do extensive design validation including advanced computational fluid flow analysis, studies they weren#039;t able to do in past contests.

This will be the 25th year for Lawrence Technological University#039;s (LTU) participation in the Formula SAE competition series. For the past six years, the team has been using 3D CAD software, SolidWorks, to aid in the design and fabrication of their autocross racing car. The team, comprised of mechanical and electrical engineers, has been working for a year and a half to research and design a working competition car.

quot;Having access to SolidWorks makes a more collaborative working environment. Adding additional seats has made it a lot easier to interface with more people and speeds up the learning curve. Our collaboration has been seamlessly integrated while working with the initial design and concept in SolidWorks then transferring it into fabrication,quot; says Shaun Bentley, a senior LTU Mechanical Engineering student and DASI Solutions Application Engineer.

David Darbyshire has been involved with Formula SAE since 1986 when he was a Mechanical Engineering student at Lawrence Technological University. As owner of DASI Solutions, Darbyshire stays connected with the next generation of Designing Engineers by providing the SolidWorks technologies used in the Formula SAE Competition.

About Formula SAE

The Formula SAE challenges about 120 student teams from colleges and universities throughout the world to conceive, design, fabricate, and race a small, formula-style, autocross racing car. For purposes of the competition, students are asked to assume that a manufacturing firm has engaged them to produce a prototype car for evaluation as a production vehicle. The intended sales market is the nonprofessional weekend autocross racer. The final product is then taken to the competition, where it is critiqued by experienced judges and compared to other cars entered.

Blue Ray Technologies to Open Hollywood Plant and Others Across US to Serve New BD and HD Demand

Hollywood, CA May 15, 2008 -- Blue Ray Technologies is planning to open multiple Blu-Ray disc production facilities across the U.S, starting with a facility near Hollywood to be close to the indie and major studios that have now all adopted Blu-ray.

The new facilities are designed to be capable of handling the next generation of movie and game discs, Blue-ray 2.0, which gives an interactive web dimension to the consumer, and offer up to quot;five layers of entertainment,quot; according to BRT founder Erick Hansen, whose Hollywood move puts him closer to the studios he has worked with for years.

Hansen has also been in negotiations with the major studios through an affiliated company for downloadable high definition content over the Internet. While being a pioneer in DVD and now championing Blu-ray discs, Hansen also believes in delivering the best in movie and game content in whatever form the consumer wants it.

With the end of the format war, and 70% of the US having bought or buying HD screens (according to Nielsen figures) There is an quot;overwhelmingquot; demand now for instant product in Blu-ray is the present and future in the arena, according to DVD pioneer and Blue Ray Technologies founder Erick Hansen.

Which he said means multiple production and shipping locations are needed to serve the demand, something never done before in this end of the industry. Especially for TV shows, from major sports like quot;NFLquot; or quot;NBAquot; to quot;American Idolquot; or quot;CSIquot;, fans want their shows quickly, and if they missed an episode, online access does not give them HD, Blu-ray quality for their big screens.

The company is upgrading its Spokane, WA, plant and next facilities will be closer to Hollywood studios and networks. quot;We are looking for additional facilities in Southern California for the overwhelming demand for Blu-ray,quot; said Hansen.

Next he said quot;We will be looking to add additional capacity in the Mid-West and East Coast.quot;

He is not stopping at US production and distribution points. quot;By the end of the year, we will be working strategic partnerships in Europe to build a world-class global digital distribution system.quot;

Hansen said quot;We not only have an interest in cutting transportation costs for the industry and delivery time for customers, it is BRT#039;s #039;green#039; policy mandate of working with the earth instead of against it.quot;
