I tried the process twice getting the same answer. What seem to be the problem? How can I fix it?

Old Dell Desktop

Hello,

I’m working on an old dell desktop circa 2000 for anothe company as a favor.  It’s coming up with the WGA not genuine message.

In reviewing the machine, it looks like the original key was a VLK key, and I know Dell had a problem back then not using the personal keys but instead using the VLK, so now it’s saying it’s not right.  There is no Windows XP key sticker on the machine because it’s so old. Is there any way to fix it for these guys?

Here’s the diags:

Windows XP Key update tool

I guess I will add to the list of irritated people trying to work with Microsoft in making there copies legal. We are upgrading the computers at work I am cloning machines so that we can get rid of them and want to use the key codes that came with the computers originally. I built the first machine fine and validated the key code but when I ran the update tool to change the key code on the imaged machine and before I put the new code in it gave the error like everyone else got of 0X800402c9 with a warning of low disk space. I have 40 machines that I am needing to image and I do not want to build everyone of them from scratch. I am hoping with Microsofts infinite wisdom they can figure out how to do this.

Thanks

Have a genuine windows but it says I do not.

I work in a computer lab and cannot have all the computers
displaying that MS Windows is not legal.  I cannot be installing Geunine Advantage again it on all
the computers when MS feels like making us bend over and JUMP thru more HOOPS, (something they are infamous for).

Genuine Advantage is just a Spy ware.  How to you turn it off, disable the service etc.

I do not need updates so I do not care about so called Benefits.

I have had to spend hours getting software to work that worked before updating windows.  I do not do updates.

I
am going to recommended IT going to Linux it costs less and has no built in SPY
WARE and crashes less than MicroCrap software.
