Correct Sizes
Be sure to take time and measure for the correct bracelet size before ordering. There are two simple ways to do this: Measure a favorite bracelet of the person whom you are purchasing the bracelet for. Make sure and measure from end to end. Also, you can measure the person's wrist and add about an inch to this measurement. This will give you the bracelet size to order. October Breast Cancer Awareness Month
According to the Medical News Today "The American Cancer Society estimates that women have a 1 in 8 lifetime chance of developing breast cancer. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in women, and the main risk factors are being female and age. Family history, personal history of certain cancers, no pregnancies or pregnancy later in life, early menarche, late menopause, obesity, alcohol intake, and use of hormone therapy can also increase a woman's risk. With an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer in 2007 and more than 40,000 deaths, there is reason for concern. Encouraging women to be vigilant and to do what they can to reduce their individual risk may help allay fears about the disease. When caught early, odds of survival are high-5-year survival rates are as high as 98%. Advances in early detection and treatment have led to a 2.3% annual decrease in mortality from 1990 to 2002." Arts and Crafts in the Park
Sunday, September 9th from 9-5 will be the annual Arts and Crafts in the Park at Newtown Park in Lawrenceburg on the corner of U.S 50 and Main Street. This is always a great craft show with all handmade goods! I will be taking orders for customized jewelry this day as well as selling premade jewelry there at the show. Cream and brown are definitely colors I think of for Fall. This Cream Pearl and Bronze  jewelry set is one of the first sets of jewelry I made for myself years ago and is still one of my favorites that I wear often! Clasp Changes
I am slowly making a few changes to the bracelet designs and hope to have the website updated soon. Effective immediately all three and four strand bracelets will be made with a toggle clasp and not a lobster claw clasp. The reason for this is that with three to four strands it tends to be harder for some to clasp with a lobster claw. With a toggle clasp these larger bracelets are much more manageable to secure. If, however, you still would like a three or four strand bracelet with a lobster clasp, simply e-mail me and your order can be made as you wish. Thanks! Summerfest Arts and Crafts Show
The yearly "Raspberry Festival" in Batesville has changed it's name to "Summerfest Arts and Crafts Show and Car Show". The dates for this show are Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th. Often I receive e-mails and orders from customers that would like an "Aunt" bracelet or "Friend" bracelet or even "Sister" bracelet. Spring Forward
Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete. Merry Christmas!
I want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas! This has been a wonderful year in many ways and I am so very blessed! I thought this month I would share an e-mail I received a few months ago about the little things in life. During the tragedy of September 11th a few years ago, many survived because of "little things" that kept them from being on that plane, going to work on time, etc. Here are a few on the list: A head of a company survived 9/11...because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was His turn to bring donuts. One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident. One of them missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change. One's car wouldn't start. One went back to answer the telephone. One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have. One couldn't get a taxi. One put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a box of Band-Aids. That is why he is alive today. Now when I am stuck in traffic , miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... All the little things that annoy me... I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment ... The next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose. Sweetest Day : Saturday, October 21st
How It Started
Over 60 years ago, a Cleveland man, believing that the city's orphans and shut-ins too often felt forgotten and neglected, conceived the idea of showing them that they were remembered. He did this through the distribution of small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he distributed these small remembrances on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to participate in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called "Sweetest Day". In time, the Sweetest Day idea of spreading cheer to the underprivileged was broadened to include everyone, and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small remembrance. And soon the idea spread to other cities all over the country.
What It Is
Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October as a day to make someone happy. It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged, and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.
Sweetest Day is not based on any single group's religious sentiment or on a family relationship. It is a reminder that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning.
Because for many people remembering takes the form of gift-giving, Sweetest Day offers us the opportunity to show others that we care, in a tangible way.

Arts and Crafts in the Park
Sunday, September 10th is the annual "Arts and Crafts in the Park" at Newtown Park on the corner of US 50 and Main Street in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. A Tribute to Moms
One of my aunts sent this to me a few months ago in an e-mail. I thought I would share it with all of you. Happy Mother's Day!
MOM
For those who are lucky enough to still be blessed with their Mom, this is beautiful. For those who aren't, it is even more beautiful. The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?" she asked. And the guide said, "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning." But the young mother was happy and she wouldn't believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, she fed them and bathed them and taught them how to tie their shoes and ride a bike and reminded them to feed the dog and do their homework and brush their teeth. The sun shone on them and the young Mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this." Then the nights came, and the storms, and the path was sometimes dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her arms, and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come." And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,"A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed, and as they climbed, they learned to weather the storms. And with this, she gave them strength to face the world. Year after year, she showed them compassion, understanding, hope, but most of all, unconditional love. And when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you." The days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old, and she became little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And the mother, when she lay down at night, looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned so much and are now passing these traits on to their children." And when the way became rough for her, they lifted her, and gave her their strength, just as she had given them hers. One day they came to a hill, and beyond the hill they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And mother said, "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk with dignity and pride, with their heads held high, and so can their children after them." And the children said, "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates." And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said, "We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence." Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of certain foods you remember...flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well...she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep...the colors of a rainbow. She is Christmas morning. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she is crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion..happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow..and all the while hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy...but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space, not even death! Pass this on to all the mothers and daughters and sons you know...may we never take our mothers for granted.

I am constantly researching "search terms" on Google, Yahoo, and MSN for customized jewelry. One term that continues to be searched is "mother and daughter bracelets". Therefore, I had to add a matching sterling silver mother and daughter bracelet to the collection. I kept these matching sterling silver bracelets simple, but sparkling and beautiful! The mother bracelet is made with larger sterling silver beads in the middle and taper to smaller sterling silver beads on the ends. The mother bracelet has a half heart charm that has "Mother" on it. It is made with a sterling silver heart clasp. The daugther bracelet can be sized for a child or an adult daughter! It is identical to the mother bracelet, except for the charm which is the other half of the heart with "Daughter" on it. The mother bracelet is $30. November Craft Shows
I will be at two craft shows for the month of November. The first will be on Saturday, November 12 for the Tri Kappa Craft Bazaar at Versailles Elementary School in Versailles, Indiana. The second will be on Saturday, November 19 at Milan High School for their annual Craft Show. This will be my first time participating at these two craft shows, but I have heard they have a great turnout. I will be selling a few new things including the new capped crystal bracelets, breast cancer awareness bracelets, and a few Christmas bracelets made with red and green crystals and large sterling silver beads with Christmas tree charms.
