Has Disney gone downhill?

Sorceror It used to be that Disney, and most things associated with it, were considered pretty good entertainment. Look at all of the classic movies they’ve created. The theme parks. The characters that are a permanent part of our culture. In other words, when Disney did something, it was top notch and pretty much everlasting.

When my granddaughter comes over she like to turn on the Disney Channel, or Disney kids channel, or whatever it is. I don’t so much watch it as hear it. And to be honest, what I hear I can’t stand. All of it sounds the same: teenagers, laugh tracks, stupid jokes, just pretty much mindless noise.

Is this the best that Disney has to offer? Are they just creating junk to reflect what our kids want, or is this really the best they have? Is this all they can market to be profitable? Does all of this “dumb down” our kids? Granted, I’m in my 40’s and none of this is meant to appeal to me, but come on; I think I have half an idea of the difference between good and garbage. And to me, this isn’t good.

And by the way, will someone make Hannah Montana just shut up already?

Have you seen this truck?

Have you seen this truck?

I work for a company called American Stonecast Products, located in Elkhart, Indiana. Sometime between 5:00pm Monday October 6th, and 6:00 am Tuesday October 7th, this truck was stolen from our property. The passenger door window was broken out, and the truck was probably hot wired.

This is an International Harvester 4900, all white with dual black fuel tanks and rear bumper. The company name, “American Stonecast Products”, is on each of the cab doors. The DOT # 1297099 is on each side of the truck near the front of the box. The truck has dual swing open doors on the back, and large swing open doors on the right hand side. There are CB antennas on each mirror.

At the time it was taken, there was cardboard packaging in the truck. Some of the pallets may have red and white labels with the name “American Stonecast” on them.

Elkhart is located in north central Indiana near the Michigan border, so it is possible the truck may still be in the midwest, however it is impossible to say where it has been taken.

If you have any information about this truck, please contact me through this blog.

Why I hate politics

Every few years we deal with it, listen to it, talk about it, discuss it, fight over it. Try to weed out the good and bad of each candidate. Listen to the ads, debates, news articles, friends and family.

And every time, it’s the same old game.

Here is why I hate elections.

* The Duration. How long has this presidential campaign gone on? Too long. Too many people are sick of the whole thing by the time election day gets here. After over a year of hearing the same stuff, the last thing I want to do is get into an election booth and vote for someone that I probably don’t like by now.

* The Game. Politics, to me, is about one thing; sling enough mud at the other candidate to make yourself look better, do it long enough, and sweet talk the people. To me, it’s just a tactic not to show off your abilities, but to disgrace the other enough that people won’t trust them.

* The Candidates. It’s all about power. Nothing against any of them personally, but they play the game in quest of becoming the most powerful person on Earth. Sorry, but I get the feeling that many of them are never qualified enough to even consider running.

* The Money. Hundreds of millions. For each candidate. One will lose. I can’t help but think how wasteful this is. You have to be rich to get into the race, and able to keep raising more, knowing that it could all go down the drain. Really, there has to be a better system.

* The Lies. They all do it. If there’s something they did that is negative, they deny it. If there’s something the opponent did that is good, they discredit it. They never tell the whole truth if it can, in any way, reflect on themselves in a bad way. Sling the mud the other way, remember?

* The Lack of Responsibility. They often talk about honor, morals, doing right by the people. Sure. How many times do candidates stand up, man up, and ever say “I was wrong, I made a mistake, my actions were harmful, my party did not lead properly…”, etc? Never. No politician will ever admit to making mistakes. Neither will the parties. It is always someones elses’ fault when things go wrong. And they will always mislead us, the people, the ones they want to trust them, in the quest for office.

* The Acceptance. When it’s all over, winner and loser both will stand before a group of people and the cameras and announce how they respect the opponent they just spent the last year trashing, and say it was a good campaign. Yeah, sure thing. Then again, I guess it’s a good time to be politically correct.

Sorry, but for a country and leadership system that much of the world admires, I think it’s a sham.

I’m tired of it.

Just go away already.

Busy lately

Due to several projects going on, I’ve been limited to getting on here and making any posts …. or any that would be very interesting, anyway. I have been working full time, picking myself up from getting dumped, and getting a new web site up and running ( Catch-My-Heart.com ).

I also haven’t been able to get to Entrecard to get any drops done. I haven’t forgotten anyone, and I’m not ignoring anyone dropping on me, there’s just been too much work and personal issues to get to it.

Ocho Stinco

Reported by The Associated Press

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson has legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., a switch that became official this week.

“It’s something I don’t think anyone has ever done before,” he told the team’s Web site. “Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I’m having fun.”

Two years ago, Johnson gave himself the moniker — a reference in Spanish to his No. 85 — and put it on the back of his uniform before a game. Quarterback Carson Palmer ripped it off before the kickoff. After the season, coach Marvin Lewis — who dislikes Johnson’s attention-getting stunts — referred to the receiver as “Ocho Psycho.”

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the Bengals had no comment on the matter.

Johnson has been a concern for the Bengals this season. He unsuccessfully lobbied for a trade in the offseason, threatening to sit out if he didn’t get his way. When the Bengals refused, he relented and showed up for minicamp, but complained that his right ankle was bothering him.

He had bone spurs removed from the ankle and was limited at the start of training camp. In the second preseason game, he landed awkwardly and temporarily dislocated his left shoulder. Johnson is wearing a harness and expects to play in the season opener against Baltimore.

Ocho Cinco Seems that some players on team sports are too often wanting to promote themselves over their teams anymore. Get personal attention anyway you can, regardless of what the team thinks, or how it affects the team or other players. Great tactic. Worked for Terrell Owens, huh?

I believe this is the same Johnson that, just recently, stated that Michael Phelps wasn’t such a hot deal, and that he ( Johnson ) could thoroughly beat Phelps in the pool. Yeah, sure thing. I’ll take that bet anyday, and I’m not a gambler.

It’s one thing for a player, as part of a team, to stand out as a leader and a motivator. It’s quite another to just have the “Look at me, I want the spotlight” attitude. Some people may like it, and that’s fine, but personally I think it’s selfish and idiotic for one player to try to overshadow his whole team through ridiculous attempts to be remembered.

I wonder how long it’ll be before the novelty wears off and he, or someone else, will need to find another way to outdo this little joke of a publicity stunt.

NFL #1’s; were they ready for some football?
