There are a lot of people who have pets and all these people have different problems ranging from their pet always barking at people when they pass by to being as quiet as a mouse and for any reason. The funniest and least funny of all these problems is when your dog won’t seem to want to sleep somewhere else besides your bed and oddly enough your side of the bed on top of that. There can be many solutions to all these types of problems and they will not always work for every person but this article is for the purpose of taking the time to address this quite irritating issue. Thinking about it this can be caused by many different issues such as insecurity to a dominance problem. It is your job as a dog owner to be able to tell the difference between the two. For example, if it were a dominance problem you would see other signs besides the sleeping on the bed issue. You might see aggressiveness or constant barking but as it may seem these two signs usually go hand in hand with a scared dog. Also if you were dealing with a insecurity problem than you might notice that your dog is always scared and has his tail down constantly. It might help him to sleep in your bed as security or simply because it makes him feel safer than sleeping alone. This problem is a lot more common than people think.
The best way to deal with the aggressive problem is to stop it dead in its tracks. Dog usually are aggressive because they think that they are being threatened by whatever they are barking at. This is usually caused by you the owner because the reason for this is that he thinks he is the leader in your household. He has been given enough power and leeway to feel as though you should be following him so any attempts to silence him will go on deaf ears so to speak. The best way to silence this kind of issue is to show him that you mean business and that you are the leader in this household and not him.
There are a lot of animals that in the wild before they were domesticated ran in a pack mentality. This means that in a pack mentality there is only one leader and it is usually the one who is the strongest in the pack. He relates this mentality to the home and sees that he is stronger than you. With that in mind you need to take back that leadership role and show him that you are the leader. This is the quickest way to silence your dog and to have some kind of confidence that he wont one day turn violent whether it be towards you or to someone else outside.
When we talk next time I want to address the second part of this article which will apply to dogs that suffer from insecurity issues.

In the previous article, we discussed two different reasons why a dog would try to sleep in its owner’s bed consistently and without fail. This is a tough problem to deal with because you have to be observant about your pet and his needs. You need to know what kind of animal you have whether it be a dog that is aggressive or a dog that is docile. In the last article we covered the aggressive dogs but today is the day when we cover the docile dogs and what could be going through his head and what specifically could be making him act out by sleeping in your bed. It’s a tough thing to diagnose because a lot of times you don’t interpret it as such. Most people don’t think that because their dog is quiet and their dog doesn’t bark at anyone too much that he is fine. This is really not the case because it is that sort of quietness that is masking the real problem, nervousness and sacredness.
Already it seems a lot of people are wondering why sacredness and nervousness has anything to do with sleeping in the bed. Well if you think about it from his standpoint it makes perfect sense. Lets imagine that you are him and for whatever reason you feel scared and nervous. It might just be your nature or it could be a reason for it. Either way you are scared and you have an owner that you trust and makes you feel safe when you are together, wouldn’t you want to spend as much time together as possible? If you look at it from that standpoint doesn’t it make perfect sense?
The solution to this problem is a bit more complex because mainly it will take a lot of time and you won’t see results on the first day. The best way personally to make a dog feel a little more open and comfortable is to take him to a place that’s crowded. Take him somewhere that has a lot of people that will be nice to him and want to pet him and scratch his head and ears. You have to make him comfortable around other people because that is the best way to overcome anxiety and fear. He might have a fear of animals or other people and whatever that fear is he needs to overcome it head on. It can be a bit scary for him so don’t pressure him or get angry at him because in the end it will only make this problem that much worse. When people approach him make sure they come to him slowly and don’t make any sudden movements. This will do a lot to reassure him and to make him feel that much safer. The main thing you need to do is to be sure you are consistent. This is the sure fire way to make sure that this plan that you are going to keep will work in the end.

Dogs are mans very best friend and even though they are loyal and obedient they sometimes can have the weirdest problems you have ever experienced. There are many things that can upset a dog enough to cause these sorts of weird problems. It can range anywhere from some previous owner abusing that animal to it being a newly born puppy and you the owner unknowingly caused the problem. There have been many cases where an owner would act very nice to the dog and let him get away with doing things that he shouldn’t be doing or that should be punished in some way. The main point in this article is to discuss ways to be the leader that your new puppy needs. You need to be able to show him that you are his leader and that he can’t walk over you and do whatever it is that he wants to do because there are consequences for his actions. He may be young but this is a great time to show him and train him in what you want from him in your home. This applies to many different situations and to better address these issues, this article will be split into that many other articles so that all of them get an equal amount of time.
The first and major issue that is very important is potty training. Personally it’s never too early to potty train a pet. It is something that sets boundaries and goals for you as well as him. It is also a bit of training for you because it not only gives you a goal to strive for but it will also teach you consistency and discipline. There are countless times when someone has said that they don’t understand why there dog doesn’t seem to get into the act of urinating outside. When asked what they are doing to try and remedy this they usually say that they take him out and tell him no when he does it in the house. This is all well and fine but when they are asked how often they do it and how consistently they don’t have an answer. That is the point here. To train a dog to go to the bathroom outside or more specifically to not pee in your house you need to train him consistently to go outside. That requires that you put in the effort to see results. When you walk him make sure you walk him at the same time everyday so that he gets into a schedule.
Next time in a future article I want to go a bit more in-depth about what it means to walk your dog on a schedule. It may sound so simple when you hear it now but it has complicated steps that need your attention and your consistency. It’s not something to take lightly because these are the months where you can mold him into the dog you want him to be and how you want him to behave.
