Make it Happen With a Healthy Eating Diet and Exercise

Now that every convenience known to man is available with the help of technology, it is much easier to fall into the trap of leading a sedentary lifestyle. Instead of climbing a couple of flights of stairs, you use the elevator.

Instead of getting up from the couch to change the channel while watching television, you use the remote. Rather than walking a few blocks when you need to get to work, you take a cab or drive your car instead. It is much easier to find an excuse not to exercise because of these things which are readily available.

However, if you want to veer away from such a physically inactive existence, having a healthy eating diet and getting regular exercise is a must. It may sound easier said than done, and you may find excuses to put it off. But sooner or later, you would have to do it if you would not like your health to suffer in the long run.

How to Get a Head Start in Your Healthy Eating Diet and Exercise Program

Healthy diet and exercise are the key points to living a generally healthy lifestyle. Even if you do not have excess pounds to shed, being thin but inactive may also lead you to have health problems.

The key is to create a balance between having a healthy diet, getting a head start on a good exercise program - and you will be on your way towards leading a non-sedentary lifestyle.

Here are a few tips on how you can have an excellent healthy eating diet program:

  • Keep a food journal.

It doesn’t matter whether you are using the good old pen-and-paper routine or if you are using an online tool to track the calories of the food that you are eating. A food journal helps you keep a close watch on your diet.

With this, you can check whether you are including an item from each essential food group. It controls your urge to have unnecessary cravings, and the mere activity of keeping a food journal will teach you the responsibility of having healthier eating habits.

  • Know what you should avoid.

Anything taken in excess may actually be bad for your health. Moderate your alcohol consumption. When cooking, reduce the salt, fats, preservatives and artificial colouring in your meals. See to it that your sugar consumption and carbs consumption is just enough.

  • Know which foods you should eat more.

As you may already know, fruits and vegetables should be consumed daily. Drink healthy beverages such as fresh fruit juices and green tea - instead of coffee, cola or sugar-based drinks.

Exercising Tips

Now that you have a healthy eating plan, the next thing that you should do is to have a good exercise plan. You do not even need to hire a personal trainer for this.

Start with brisk walking, jogging, a round of tennis or badminton, swimming - any sport that you enjoy, which will work out all your muscles is the best way to go. It’s even better if you can have a friend along with you while doing these physically strenuous activities, it will be fun and beneficial for you both!

At the end of the day, what you need to do to have a healthy eating diet and a good exercise program is to actually make it happen. It all starts with your determination: if you decide that you would like to lead a healthier lifestyle, then what else is preventing you from doing so? Follow these tips and be on your way towards a healthier and better version of you.

Become a Healthier You!

Have you ever truly stopped to think about what all this “Going Green” is about? Well, it never really occurred to me, until I was introduced to a company that has been providing naturally based products for over 20 years, just how “Going Green” would change my life. When I converted my home over to products that contain no harsh chemicals and that are environmentally safe, not only did I see the change physically, but it gave me a peace of mind. I truly feel good about helping the environment and I feel like I am being an even better mother and wife to my family for providing items in the home that are healthier.

My husband is a health inspector for the United States Army. He takes great pride in keeping our home clean and generally he has taken on all the duties of cleaning and dusting and the like. I know what you are thinking; I am truly a blessed woman not to have to have this as a responsibility. Well, generally when he would clean the house he would wear gloves to protect his hands to use the chemically based products that we would buy at the local stores and like a good wife, I would just let him. Now that we use naturally based products with no harsh chemicals I have taken it upon myself to clean. The first time I used the products was strictly for testing purposes. I never truly intended on making it a habit of cleaning the house myself. I wanted to see if these “no harsh chemical” products were really effective. I wanted to see if they really cleaned like they said they would. To my surprise, they did! So I continue to clean, even though I know that my husband would gladly do it. I enjoy knowing that I can clean the tub, and the other areas of the house, and know that I am not breathing in harsh chemicals and I don’t have to wear gloves to protect my hands. I don’t mind telling you that my husband is pretty darn excited about it too! I never thought that I would volunteer to do the cleaning when I didn’t have to, but now I truly don’t mind.

Our family didn’t only convert to natural based cleaning products, we use naturally based vitamins, dental hygiene products, skin care products and the list goes on. This company provides more than 350 products to choose from. I truly am a customer for life. I no longer purchase my laundry detergents , cleaning products or pain relievers from the local stores, I have them shipped to me directly and save money by doing this! I enjoy introducing others to this ‘new’ way of life. I love telling people of another option to buy items that we use every day that are healthier for our families and safer for our homes. There’s no coming up with more money but simply switching stores. My new lifestyle helps the environment and saves me money. I feel like I am doing my part when I am purchasing environmentally friendly products. If we all get this notion, together we can make a difference! What makes this an even sweeter deal is that the company sends me a “thank you” check for introducing others to the products. It’s a win, win situation!

Make an easy and healthy decision for your family. Change your lifestyle, Go Green! Ask me how!

Common Small Talk Mistakes You Need To Be Aware Of

Small talk, for many people, can be a difficult undertaking, whereas for others it’s as easy as tying their shoes. Of all the conversational styles however, mundane conversation is the most difficult to negotiate. What do I talk about? This is the basic question we ask ourselves when first meeting someone. Another part of the dilemma is that in order to meet someone new we have to engage in simple conversation with them first, before the interaction can develop into a friendship. So, if you want to meet someone new you will have to initiate day to day conversation. Here are some common small talk mistakes to avoid.

Many people, wanting to engage in light conversation with another, fear that they will be boring. And boring you might be, but it is better to take a chance on being boring than not trying at all. If you don’t try you’ll never know. Don’t worry about charming the pants off someone. Rather focus your attention on meeting them. Let go of all your preconceived notions about how another will respond to you. If they don’t respond in a positive way, oh well. That is their problem, not yours. They are the ones missing out on you.

The most important thing whenever trying to initiate a simple chat with another person is to approach that person with a smile, and maybe even a hand shake. Smiles are a world-renowned ice-breaker that opens the door to practically every conversation. Smiles soften people. A handshake mixed with a smile lets the other know you are no threat. A smile sends a message of comfort to the other. A handshake sends the message of sincerity.

Take a moment to reflect on the last time you met someone for the first time. Perhaps that reflection is upon a job interview. The interviewer and yourself greeted each other with a smile and a hand shake before walking into his or her office. Not only was this an act of professionalism, but it was also an ice-breaker. Both your prospective employer and yourself relaxed more after this initial greeting. Apply this same principle to every time you initiate an interaction.

Another small talk mistake not to make is not paying attention to your body language as you make your approach. Body language is very important in every interaction, especially when becoming involved in a new relationship. We all notice the interests of another in many situations, and when see that person approach we are looking at their body language. That body language sends us signals and messages of which we begin to evaluate. And yours does too! Become aware of your body language. Good body language will get you better results than poor body language.

Asking close ended questions is a big mistake. The answer should be obvious. A closed question gets a dead-end response. And once you get a dead end response you will be standing there trying to recover and come up with something else.

Not listening is another small talk mistake. Light conversation can be fun, interesting and engaging, but it requires one to listen, even if the light conversation may seem boring. If it seems boring keep listening, because small talk has a tendency of taking turns. Conversations can go off into a variety of places and never sticks to any one for a long period of time. The more you listen the more involved you are able to become in the ensuing chat. And even these simple conversations can get quite relaxing and funny at times. Perhaps, this is what small talk is about: relaxing and having fun!
