The Spanish airport authority AENA has announced that it will maintain the current rate of reduced airport taxes and charges for the duration of 2010. An announcement that could have a profound impact for tourism on Lanzarote. As the low cost operators Ryanair may now extend their flights to Lanzarote beyond the end of March next year.

Occupancy levels in Lanzarote apartments and hotels continues to fall some way short of 2008 levels. According to the latest figures for October just released by the local hoteliers association ASOLAN. Which reveal a drop in the number of beds filled to 62.75% last month from 71.58% in October 2008. A decline much in keeping with figures for previous months of this year.
