Got a copy of FarCry after playing Crysis only to get fatal error 1603 while installing. Many sites talked about installing a cleanup utility, cleaning temp files, etc. None of these steps helped but I finally managed to get it to install. How read on if you are a victim of this error.
Solution for Far Cry Fatal Error 1603
Install ORCA from here or the Windows Installer SDK available from Microsoft.
Copy all the files from the DVD to a folder on your computer.
Open Far Cry.msi in Orca by right clicking the msi file and choosing Edit with Orca option.
Click on one of the table values to the left.
Go to Edit > Find and search for “This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe“
Click on the row which contains this value and press the delete button on the keyboard.
Go to File > Save
Go to the folder you copied Far Cry to and run setup.exe
Do not install the Directx that comes along with the installation while installing
Enjoy your game !

This guide is meant to give you a general and as a guide if you are new to making movie. Making professional looking videos take a lot of effort and knowledge. This guide should help you make a basic game video or a personal video you copied from a digital camera.
Capturing Video
First of all we need the video that we want to make a movie from. If you have the video from a digital camera, you may skip this section. If you are trying to capture video from a game, download FRAPS. It is a very easy to use program that allows you to record movies in games.
Once you download and install FRAPS, go to the MOVIES tab and choose the folder for saving the videos. You will also need a video capture hotkey to start FRAPS, set this to a key that is not used by the game. Then choose the fps and half/full size. This setting depends on your computer, try messing with the settings till you get a good video.
Now start the game and when you are ready to record, press the video capture hotkey.
Organizing the video
Now that you have some videos for making the movie, its time to organize the clips. For windows users you might have Windows Movie Maker. It is good enough for starters to make movies, if you do not have it, please get VIDEOMACH.
In this guide we will look at the basic functions in windows movie maker. First you will need to import the video into the program so that it can be used. Use the Import Media Items option from the file menu and import the videos you recorded earlier. Now you can drag the videos into the storyboard. The storyboard can be used to arrange different clips to make a movie. The split option can also be used to split any long videos.
Now that you have arranged the videos you need some titles and maybe transition effect for the clips. You can add Titles and Credits to the movie from the Tools menu. Its very simple and shouldn’t be a worry for someone like you. Once you are done save the video.
Compressing the video
Ok so now we have a movie that is organized with titles credits and effects. There is one thing that you may have missed out ! Chances are that the movie you made is 2-20 GB in size !!! Now that aint good, so lets compress the video so that it can be shared over the internet or on DVD’s.
There is one last program that we need to download. VIRTUALDUB is a program that is free and pretty easy to use.
Open the movie that you saved, choose Video > Compression and play with the settings till you find a good balance between quality and size. Once you are done click OK and save the movie.

Over the past month, I’ve had trouble going to internet parlours to check my mail and use the instant messenger. What was more annoying is the fact that most of them did not have the IM’s I used and if I installed any, it would be removed after reboot !
Thats when I remembered that about 10 years ago we used Yahoo chat through the web with no software. Looks like they still have that option.
To use the web version of Yahoo Messenger, just visit http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ and sign in with your username and password. Its as simple as that, no need to install any software. There is a disadvantage to this method, you cannot use voice calls with the webmessenger.
Gtalk is another commonly used IM client due to the popularity of Orkut. The GTalk web messenger can be accessed at http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/popout
Firefox users can install a small addon (3kb) to have Gtalk show as a firefox sidebar without the need to install the whole program. Once the addon is installed, just press Alt+G to show the Gtalk sidebar in Firefox. The addon can be installed from here.

There is one major security loophole in Windows XP that most users ignore, which can allow an intruder to login to your computer easily. If you dont know about it, I might as well tell you. Try it on your friends computer and they will be amazed how you did it.
When XP starts up and you see the login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice. This will give you the old windows 2000 login screen. Type the username as Administrator and leave the password field blank. Click OK and you should be logged into Windows, you can now remove the password of any other users on the computer !
Now for the Vista part.
Vista has a hidden super user account but is not activated by default like XP. So why use this administrator account ? You will never be shown the irritating UAC dialog box.
How to activate the Administrator account in Vista
1. Login to your account in Vista
2. Right click the command prompt and select “Run as administrator” (Start > All Programs > Accessories > right click Command Prompt > Choose run as Administrator)
3. Type Net user administrator anypassword
4. Type Net user administrator activate:yes
5. Logoff
6. Logon as the administrator with the password you set in step 3

I have always wanted to become a airline pilot and dreams are finally coming true. I left India for the Phillipines on 28 Jan. Now I’m studying a 8-10 month pilot course in Iloilo City, Phillipines.
Since I had made some posts in advance to coverup for the delay in updating, it looks like I wasnt able to get the internet up and running here. We have ordered for DSL and should be up and running in a week. Meanwhile I can only check comments and will be unable to post.

We received an email from one of our readers who wanted to know how to download to torrents. Here is an awesome BitTorrent applet that lets you download torrent files directly in your browser.
BitLet.org is an experimental Java applet that allows users to download torrents without the need for any additional software. Users just have to copy the metafile URL of the torrent and paste it into the download box on the main page (explainined below). There is also a tool for publishers that creates a code which which users can click to directly download using the BitLet service.
How to get the metafile URL of the torrent and download from BitLet
1. Open your favorite search engine (like mininova.org)
2. Find the file you want to download.
3. Right click the download torrent link and copy the link location
4. Paste the link location in BitLet.org and start downloading the torrent.
BitLet also has a new applet called westream, that allows you to stream music from torrents. This service can be accessed from http://www.bitlet.org/music
