Circle Line - drinking ban – 31.05.08

Going out with a few of my friends last night turned out to be more exciting than I had expected. It was the 31st of May, the day before the drinking ban on London Transport came into effect. I forgot I had read in the papers that “more than 10,000 revellers are expected to swamp the Circle line tomorrow night for the drink-fuelled bash” and so I got caught up in the ‘party’.

This bash was arranged through social networking sites such as Facebook and Wadja! It’s crazy, but not surprising that our loveable Facebook has played a part in such an event.

Luckily I had my camera from an earlier event and was happy to have captured it. Despite the mix reaction, I do think that our new mayor, Boris Johnson, has made a decision that will benefit all of us in the long run.

Hey, I’m off from Uni

I have just finished my first year at university. I’m so happy. It was a new experience for me – one which I enjoyed thoroughly. Obviously like most things there were ups and downs. My ups were fantastic! Forget about the downs :p. I met some great people there as well. Hi to you all :)! Now I have around 4 months to enjoy. I could talk about uni for hours…

Will robot romance become a reality?

R2-D2 and Metal Mickey are cute but would you want to marry them? It’s not as barmy as it sounds, claims artificial intelligence expert David Levy. He predicts that by 2050 humans will be having long-term sexual and emotional relationships with robots.

Robots are becoming more sophisticated,’ he explains. ‘Technologies are being developed all the time, such as artificial skin, which will make robots more human-like. One Japanese company makes a doll that has electronic sensors in the nipples so if you stroke them, it makes approving sounds.’

Today

It’s been months since I last post something on my Blog. It’s so easy to forget, or should I say neglect, things sometimes. With such a big gap in between postings I have much to say. That’s always a plus ;).

My laptop stopped working recently for some bizarre reason. I couldn’t use the internet no matter what I tried. Out of pure desperation I asked a question on LinkedIn but even they failed to help me solve the problem. Oh, LinkedIn is a great site professional site by the way. If you haven’t already singed up I suggest you have a look.

I had to part with my stubborn ways (momentarily) and go to a PC repair shop. That’s something I’ve always hated doing. Reason being, they always take forever to fix the simplest of problems and always over charge. “Why didn’t you just get the manufacture to fix it” you asked? Well, dealing with the likes of HP is something I totally resent. The last time I sent my laptop to them it was over three months before they finally fixed it and sent it back to me. Pathetic, I knowK.

Anyways, I think that guy at the repair shop might have conned me. He told me that the reason I was unable to connect to the internet was because I had a “virus”. I don’t believe that at all. I’m very cautious when using the internet and being protected. I’ve had enough run-ins with such likeness to know the dos and the don’ts =). He told me he had to re-install my OS (the thing I dreaded the most) and it was going to cost me. Reluctantly I gave in.

On inspection of my laptop I found out that the guy simply did system recovery and charge me for it – when all I had to do was press f11 on my keyboard when starting up. I knew about that!! I didn’t need him to do that for me!

Now I have to live with the sorrows of losing valuable possessions and being charged for it.

Tip of the day: always try to solve your own problems.

Untold Story: How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry

It was a late morning in the fall of 2006. Almost a year earlier, Steve Jobs had 200 of his top engineers working on the iPhone. Yet here, in Apple’s boardroom, it was clear that the prototype was still a disaster. It wasn’t just buggy, it flat-out didn’t work…

Man using GPS drives in front of train

A Global Positioning System can tell a driver a lot of things — but apparently not when a train is coming. A computer consultant driving a rental car drove onto train tracks Wednesday using the instructions his GPS unit gave him. A train was barreling toward him, but he escaped in time and no one was injured.

Happy Birthday Andrew!!

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Today (2.01.08) one of my best friends celebrated his 22nd birthday. He didn’t really plan anything but we all decided to go out and enjoy a meal together at TGI Friday’s and celebrate with him. It’s always a treat when friends get to spend quality time together. We surprised him by getting the whole restaurant to sing him happy birthday =) – funny (see video).
