Golf is a unique game. Golf is about patience, vision, and what you wear. That's right, what you wear can have a major effect on your game.

Las Vegas Golf Courses
Golf is one of the games which attract many big time gamblers and poker players. The poker stars normally have lots of free time, and golf with its handicap system, is a game well-suited for different kinds of betting.
When there are no Texas Hold’em rules to stick to, the players can use all their imagination to cheat and deceive their opponents. And the sums wagered during these golf matches are in most cases absolutely insane. Talk about pressure!
In a recent magazine interview Erik “Erik123” Sagstrom, one of the best online poker players of all time, talks about the crazy golf betting that goes on within the poker community.
“There is lots of money to be made on the golf course. Almost all poker players play golf as well. Even though you lose some times to a player that has a good day, the player with the lowest handicap normally wins,” said Sagstrom who currently has a handicap around 2.
Sagstrom also reveals that Phil Ivey is perhaps the most devious of them all when it comes to betting on golf.
“Everything Ivey says about him being cheated and hustled on the golf course is just lies. You hear all the time how good you are at the golf course, but still you lose all the time.”
“Earlier, if you wanted to play against Phil Ivey, you had to play against his two “buddies” as well. Those two buddies were like among the best players in the world. There is no doubting that Erik Sagstrom and many other well-known poker players are very serious about their golf game. So, if you’re visiting Las Vegas golf courses nearby , keep an eye out for the poker players.

Ultimate Golf Fantasy
Recently an editor spoke to me about doing an article dealing with the ultimate golf fantasy. I thought it made sense to speak with some friends to see what kinds of dreams they had and what their idea of the ultimate golf fantasy might be.
Early feedback was pretty overwhelming and it was kind of surprising. Handicap and occupation had little to do with the response and the desire to play a certain "goat track" in Georgia.
Chris Obert is a scratch player and head golf professional of Millwood Golf and Racquet Club in Springfield. Chris had the same response as did American Airlines manager and 30-handicapper Mike Fink. Now, I realize my previous comment alone probably made some peoples skin crawl. It is probably the most desired course to play in the world.
Augusta National, these two words send shivers down the spine of true golf enthusiasts. It seems not even the glorious ocean views of Pebble Beach can compete with Magnolia Lane. I was surprised to hear talk of just a simple round of golf at Augusta. Hey, how about playing in the annual event? How about playing in the final group on Sunday? How about taking a group of friends and staying for a week in the Butler cabin? It seems like winning a British Open or US Open pales in comparison to a simple round of golf at Augusta. Perhaps you have had visions, as I have, of hoisting that big cardboard check over your head. How many of us have dreamed of a final round like David Duval had at the Bob Hope where he shot a 59? For most players, 59 is a good 12 hole total. Hey, forget the US Open, how about Annika's trip around Colonial several years ago? It was big news around the world and left a lot of us wishing we could walk in her shoes.
I will probably never play a PGA tour event at Colonial. But I can sure dream about it as I stroll around my home course. Standing over the putt that could win the Ryder Cup!
It is funny how age and our declining athletic ability rob us of fantasies relating to other sports. I know I will never dive into the hole, jump up, and throw out that runner going to first. I must admit that my 50 extra pounds would make me a heck of a line-backer. At least until that 225 pound running back left his foot print on my sagging chest. Golf allows us to keep our dreams and to excel well into our golden years.
Golf Store
With an increasing market of high-end retailers selling golf equipment, one could possibly miss a "real" golf store.
Typically, golf stores have the latest golf equipment and accessories needed by somebody who plays golf. Things could range from golf clubs to golf balls, to posters, shirts, and wallpaper.
Most golf stores focus on stocking the proper equipment for the interested golfer. They will provide hints on how to choose the right club and the appropriate golf ball. Golf stores do not only supply things relative to golf, but some also offer services and knowledge about the sport itself.
Additional services could include club repair, club fitting, and swing analysis. Many of these golf stores use the True Temper Shaftlab and Achiever Launch Monitor swing analysis. These machines measure everything, from ball speed, club head speed to carry distance. They also provide printouts illustrating extreme deflection, shaft loading, downswing time, and face angle.
Also, there are other golf stores that offer golf classes taught by local pros. Golf tutorials can also be offered for juniors along with women's clinics on the sport. Golf collectors will find many interesting items in a golf store as well. Hobbyists may find collector items like golf balls used by some of the world's most renowned players. Most golf store owners are actually golfers themselves. Usually, they put up a golf store after retiring from playing golf.
Callaway Golf Clubs Callaway golf is the undisputed leader in golf club technology and sales. The company is constantly developing new products and improving existing products to ensure that Callaway golf drivers, woods and putters outperform the competition. In 2003 Callaway Golf was the first golf manufacturer to receive more than 100 US patents in a single year. To understand how Callaway Golf compares to other golf club manufacturers, you need only to review their history.
Callaway Golf also became the number 1 golf manufacturer in sales of irons and woods:
1996, they became the worlds largest manufacturer of golf clubs and Callaway Golf Ball Company was formed;
2003, Callaway Golf was the number 1 brand in woods, putters and irons combined for seven consecutive years;
2007, Callaway has 17 products on the Golf Digest Hot List. They have irons, woods, drivers and golf balls named Editor's Choice.
A brand new set of Callaway golf clubs can easily cost $1,000 - $2,000. Although these prices seems high, they are comparable to golf club sets from other large golf manufacturers.
If you are new to the game of golf or do not want to spend as much on golf clubs, you should consider buying used golf clubs. You can purchase used Callaway golf clubs for substantially less while still getting top quality clubs. When purchasing used golf clubs beware of inferior quality merchandise, imitation Callaway golf clubs, clubs that have been altered from original manufacturers specifications and similar issues.
Unless you are a seasoned golf professional or an avid golf player, used Callaway golf clubs are highly recommended. To ensure that the used golf clubs that you're buying are of the highest quality, purchase certified pre-owned used Callaway golf clubs. The benefits of certified pre-owned golf clubs are as follows:
the used golf clubs come with a warranty;
the golf clubs are compared to the original manufacturing specifications to ensure quality;
they are certified authentic Callaway golf clubs;
and they are substantially cheaper than brand new Callaway golf clubs.
Purchasing certified used Callaway golf clubs is similar to purchasing certified pre-owned automobiles. Make sure your golf club dealer is authorized to sell certified pre-owned used Callaway golf clubs.
Swing Instruction
The contribution of the body to the golf swing has been over emphasized for years. I guess one reason for this fact is that body positions were easy to point out in a golf magazine. Problem is, the over use of the body or excess body motion continues to be the killer of the golf swing for many a golfer, holding them back from their true potential. The body has such a small territory to cover in the downswing while the arms have so far to travel that you MUST start your downswing with your arms or you will travel over the top on your downswing causing you to pull the ball and more importantly release the power angle created at the top of your backswing too early.
Another by product of starting your shoulders first on the downswing is swinging on too steep a plane during your approach to the golf ball. You can get away with swinging a little steep with a wedge up to a seven iron. Once you get in to the longer clubs you need to get the arms going first so the club shallows out on the approach.
The lie angle on a wedge (the lie angle is a measurement from the center of the shaft to the ground in degrees) would be about 64 degrees. On a driver the lie angle is 55 degrees. All clubs are swung on plane, being the shaft angle at address and every golf club has it’s own plane. The longer the golf club the flatter or more shallow the plane. To get the longer clubs to shallow out you need to start your arms earlier on the down swing. Ben Hogan described his downswing as like pulling an arrow out of a quiver. Tiger Woods says his down swing feels like his arms are falling out of the sky in front of his chest. Al Geiberger said the downswing was like ringing a bell. You may think he has a funny swing but watch how he drops his arms first on the down swing. Many a golfer like Jim Furyk, (Tony Lema, Lee Trevino, Freddy Couples) swing steep on the back swing so they can fall to a shallow position on the downswing. Taking the golf club back low and behind you might cause you to swing steep on the down swing because you need to turn your shoulders first to get the golf club out in front of you to get to the golf ball.
Pretend like you’re facing 12 o’clock while at the address position. Hold that position in your chest and head and start pumping the golf club down with your arms holding the body perfectly still. Try to put the stick in the ground at the same angle as the shaft on your golf club. Take the golf club back outside the stick and bring it down to the ball inside the stick. Whatever drill you use get your arms going first! Swing like a pirate…use your arrrrrms!
