If you are as fond as Jack Lalanne as I am, you’ll enjoy his face exercise routines. In this episode, he demonstrates how to firm up the muscles around the eyes, which will result in a tight, youthful looking face. So take five minutes RIGHT NOW, not later, but RIGHT NOW and give it a try!
StriVectin-SD Eye Cream helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles around the eye. It contains the same active formula as the original StriVectin-SD Intensive Repair–the popular, cutting-edge anti-wrinkle and stretch mark repair cream–but without aromatic oils (such as peppermint), which caused some users’ eyes to water when applied to the delicate skin in the orbital eye area (the eyelid and the area directly below the eye).
Product Description: StriVectin SD Eye Cream is specifically for the sensitive and easily irritable areas around the eye. In a sense it is a more gentle application, with additional ingredients to help soothe the area, as well as less concentration of ingredients which caused slight irritation in some people.
StriVectin-SD Eye Cream is a multi-action orbital eye area perfector enriched with Striadril, a key compound containing patented pentapeptides that help to significantly improve the appearance of fine lines by aiding the build up of collagen. Unlike many other antiaging treatments, Striadril is more stable, better tolerated, safer and more effective.
Usage: Apply to skin clean and dry area around the eye area once to twice a day. Only a tiny amount of eye cream is needed to cover the area. Using the ring finger or pinkey - dot the eye cream along the edge of the bone surrounding the eye. Two dots of cream should be sufficient to cover the area. Gently pat (do not rub!) the cream into the skin - staying around the edge of the bone.
Pros:
Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles around the eye
Hydrates well without greasy residues
Precise functional anti-wrinkle formula as the original StriVectin-SD, without aromatic oils
In addition to moderate exercise, deep breathing is also a mild but effective form of aerobic exercise that can be done anywhere. Even as you drive, sit at your desk, ride elevators or do housework, deep breathing can make your body pump more blood everywhere, from your brain to your feet. Like an internal massage, deep breathing gives you a calm but energized feeling.
Most of the time, we breathe shallowing, using only our upper lungs. Deep breathing means breathing from your diaphragm, which is in your stomach area. Here’s what you do:
Sit up straight with your shoulders relaxed. Do not lean forward. Inhaling through your nose, slowly fill your lungs with a deep breath, beginning by expanding your stomach area as you inhale. Eventually, you should feel the air moving into the top of your lungs. When you’ve reached maximum breathing capacity, hold the breath for one second, and then slowly exhale through your mouth. Relax and breathe normally for four breaths. Repeat this process 10 times.
Deep breathing is a helpful and effective way to elevate your energy and clear your skin. You should practice this method whenever you can.
Just as a full length mirror reflects your health, your skin registers your living habits and what kind of beauty care you practice. What you put inside your body dramatically influences how your skin looks. So, let’s take a look at how and what you need to feed yourself to achieve a healthy complexion.
Having a good oxygen supply is an essential requirement for building a healthy body, mind, and of course, skin. The most effective way to clear your skin through increased oxygen intake is to exercise at least three times a week. The healthy flush you notice all over your skin after you workout is the result of increased blood circulation, a by-product of high oxygen intake.
Physical activity greatly benefits the skin by increasing the flow of blood throughout skin tissue, bringing oxygen and other nutrients needed for maintenance and repair of skin cells. Oxygenated blood helps process toxins and internal pollutants that damage skin and connective tissues. When you exercise hard enough to make your skin flush, you can see how blood is circulating vigorously throughout your body.
If you are not athletic, don’t despair. Moderate exercise, such as 30 minutes of brisk daily walking, will help get blood pumping and your complexion blooming. In either case, it’s always wise to get your physician’s approval before starting an exercise program.
Anti-aging skin care is very popular in today’s world. Today most people want to maintain their youthful looks through antiaging skin care procedures (and a number of people are successful too). However, anti-aging skin care is not achieved by any magic potion. Anti-aging skin care is about discipline. It is about being proactive.
Although most of the nine tips below are mentioned in other blog posts, it never hurts to continually emphasize some of the most basic steps needed for proactive anti-aging skin care. As you read through the tips below, make a list of two to three items that you can begin implementing today. Once accomplished, add the next two to three items until you have incorporated each tip into your daily routine.
1. Maintain healthy eating habits. A well balanced diet is the key to maintaining a proper body metabolism. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables (raw), they are the best source of fiber and have a very refreshing effect on your body. Avoid oily and fatty food; not only do they lack in essential nutrients but also cause obesity and other diseases which accelerate the aging process.
2. Beat stress. This is probably the most important anti-aging skin care measure. Stress disturbs the body’s metabolism and accelerates the aging process. Sleep, exercise and a relaxing bath, are all good ways of beating stress. Aroma-therapy is also known to bust stress.
3. Drink a lot of water: Anti-aging skin care can’t be any simpler than this. Water helps flush out the toxins from the body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease. Around 8 glasses of water (per day) is recommended by all doctors.
4. Regular exercise is a wonderful anti-aging skin care procedure. Besides toning your muscles, it also helps in cleaning the skin by flushing out the toxins in the form of sweat. Exercise should be followed by a warm shower in order to completely remove the toxins.
5. Avoid the use of strong, chemical based products on your skin. Natural skin care products are a good option. Use of organic skin care products (home made or commercial) can be a very effective anti-aging skin care measure.
6. Do not overuse skin care products. Excessive and harsh application can prove harmful to the skin.
7. Do not ignore skin disorders; it can lead to permanent skin damage. Try over the counter medication and if that doesn’t help, immediately visit your dermatologist and seek his/her advice.
8. Vitamin C based skin care products are a very popular means of anti-aging skin care. However, these seem to oxidize very quickly (which makes them harmful for the skin). So store them properly. If the product turns Yellowish brown, it means that vitamin c has oxidized and the prodct is no longer suitable for use.
9. Protect your skin against UV radiation. UV rays are known to speed up the aging process. So, a good sunscreen lotion should be a part of your anti-aging skin care routine.
By adopting these simple tips, you are well on your way to more youthful looking skin.
In the war against aging, the eyes constitute the battered front lines — the most fragile skin on the entire body in the area that becomes progressively more wrinkled, hollow and shadowy with every passing year. Today’s doctors have access to a wealth of line smoothing injectables, energy sources that tighten skin and tweak pigmentation, and refined surgical technology that have revolutionized the way we turn back the clock. However, there are many over the counter products that can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles without surgical intervention. A good source of information on what works can be found at ShopWiki.
If you are unfamiliar with wikis, they are simply a collaboration of data, usually for reference. ShopWiki includes a skincare guide that includes sections on sun care and anti-aging. As emphasized heavily on this blog, sun protection is critical to reducing the appearance of eye wrinkles. And the wiki highlights one of my favorite sunscreens, Anthelios SX.
The anti-aging section highlights another of my favorite topics, antioxidants. There is a good summary on the major antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, copper peptides and vitamin A). You can also find tips on choosing antioxidant products. So, if you are at a loss as to where to begin to combat the appearance of eye wrinkles, utilize the resources at ShopWiki along with the information on this blog and you are sure to find helpful solutions.
The natural, self disciplined approach to skin care is the simplest and healthiest way to develop good habits and maintain unique good looks. Doing face exercises regularly, just as you would exercise the rest of your body, can help you gain a more youthful appearance. But this coupled with a daily, preventative skin care regimen is an even more effective beauty formula.
Practicing preventative skin care everyday is absolutely vital to maintain a glowing, youthful complexion. This holds true even for teenagers, as today’s poor cleansing habits or failure to use sunscreen leads to tomorrow’s wrinkles. Your skin is an external organ that’s exposed to environmental factors daily. As such, it ages faster than any other organ.
Environmental factors that affect the skin include the sun, climate and air pollution. Additionally, your emotions, particularly as they relate to stress or lack of sleep, can make your face look strained or tired. That’s not to mention the impact of poor eating habits. Thus, it is crucial to give your skin regular attention and special nurturing throughout life to look its best.
Muscles are fibrous masses of tissue that are built of protein. Exercising muscles promotes the thickening and strengthening of muscle fibers. To strengthen a muscle, there must be enough protein in the diet to ensure muscle growth. The goal of exercise is to make the muscle move repeatedly until it tires and the tissue breaks down; after this point rest is essential so that the tissue can regenerate and grow bigger. The more the muscle contracts, the more it grows.
With the right balance of exercise and rest, the muscle adapts to the demands placed on it by growing bigger and stronger. Working a muscle to a heightened percentage of its capacity over a relatively short time will increase its size, strength and ability to contract. By isolating various muscles in the face and performing a repeated range of movements, the muscles are strengthened, regenerated and enlarged.

Facial muscles are terribly underused. As a result, most people have weak muscles, which invariably sag. And when the muscles sag, the skin attached to them also sags. In fact, slack facial muscles are one of the main causes of sagging and drooping that most of us eventually experience.
Sagging is a result of the inevitable reduction in collagen and elastin – the skin’s connective fibers - as we age. These fibers give skin elasticity and suppleness, and there’s no way to restore these substances. Shrinkage of diminished subcutaneous fat, or fat under the skin, also contributes to sagging. Fat reserves under the skin grow smaller with age, and this can partially account for that mid-life “gaunt” look that hollows out an aging face.
Sagging produces under eye bags and loose folds of skin on the upper eyelids. Lack of exercise makes muscle tissue thin and wasted. Working isolated muscles with face exercises helps restore muscle tissue’s elasticity and tone, making it plump and renewing strength. Like biceps, pectorals or abdominal muscles, facial muscles must be exercised in order to be firm, fit and strong.
There is much controversy surrounding the use of face exercises to reduce wrinkles and generally tone skin. Many practitioners such as dermatologist and plastic surgeons believe that face exercises offer no benefits to the skin. They suggest that there is no proof that facial exercises are effective in recontouring the face. However, for those of you who were old enough to remember Jack Lalanne (don’t worry, I won’t ask your age as long as you don’t ask mine), he was a proponent of face exercises and integrated them into his workout routine.
Now at the age of 93, he still looks good. His commitment to the program has withstood the test of time.According to Jack, just as a body builder develops his or her physique by isolating and working muscles one by one, you can also develop the specific areas of your face by repeating specific exercises. If you spend hours a week exercising your body, why not give your face a few minutes too. What is your opinion on the value of face exercises?
