Bloomsbury Auctions New York is delighted to bring to the market an extraordinary collection of early 20th Century Russian Literature, autographs, photographs and associated illustration art from 1900 through to 1950, beginning with pieces from the 'Silver Age' through the Revolutionary and post Revolutionary periods through to the Stalin era. This wide ranging collection shows how the word in the novel and in poetry alongside the art of the illustrator became one of the few ways of expressing oneself in an ever more tightly controlled society. It is an unprecedented collection of rare and desirable association material from the major Russian authors and artists of this tumultuous period of history.

Geneva - Today's sale realised SFr. 25,815,700/$ 25,063,786/€ 16,214,873 - the second highest ever total for a watch auction at Christie's.
A highly educated market, represented by 500 registered bidders, responded enthusiastically to the finely curated selection of watches in today’s landmark sale setting numerous world records throughout the day. $7.3 million for the Patek Philippe cover lots, reference 1526 and 2497 impressively demonstrate the strength of the market and the dominance of Christie's as the leading auctioneer in the field of fine and important watches. Twelve different bidders from four continents compited for the two top lots. The private Rolex collection of divers watches sold 100%, far exceeding the pre-sale estimate and underlining the strong demand in vintage Rolex sports watches.
The Famed Collection Of J. Irwin And Xenia S. Miller To Be Offered At Christie’s
Christie’s announced last Friday the consignment from the Collection of J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller to its 2008 season of sales at Christie’s in London and New York. Leading the collection are seventeen works which will be offered at the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale in London on June 24, and represent the most important and valuable collection of Impressionist and Modern art ever offered by Christie's in Europe.
J. Irwin Miller, an industrialist from Columbus, Indiana, and his wife Xenia Simons Miller, were major philanthropists and patrons of the arts who were instrumental in turning Columbus in America into a showcase for modern architecture.
