Outlook 2007 UTF-8 bug
I was finally able to solve the problem with new Outlook 2007 - new emails in plain text in UTF-8 format were not displayed. The solution was simple - just had to create a new data file, and then import all information from old data file (.pst) to a new one. That’s it - all works [...]

Colibri vs Launchy
Dropped the lovely Colibri and switched to a faster, more flexible and powerful analog - Launchy. It is free opensource program, couldn’t notice any bugs during few days of testing. Indexation of all my shortcuts + extra programs takes now 1-2 secs instead of 30-40 in case of Colibri. A proper configuration and skins support [...]

Website Screenshoting for different browsers
A service called BrowserShots that allows you to test any website in 3 browsers we have (IE6, IE7, FireFox) launched a new technology preview service here http://v03.browsershots.org/ In short - it allows you get quality screenshots taken with almost any browser possible - linux versions, mobile versions, pda and so on, very impressive list of [...]

Trackball vs Mouse
This is not a holy war because nobody likes trackballs (except me) and they are very unpopular, but anyway I think trackball is better. The one I have is Logitech® Cordless TrackMan® Wheel, previously owned the same thing but wired, not cordless, for 2 years. I am talking about thumb-driven trackball, as I do not [...]

Firefox Toolbar Drag Folders
A very unobvious feature for me, but I actually found it. The best browser ever (FireFox of course - homepage) has a nice feature of Bookmarks Toolbar Folder which is very useful for quick access to bookmarks.. You can easily manage links dragging pages onto toolbar, you can create folders (pop-down menus) and drag links [...]

Pocket Skype 2.0 beta
2.0 beta version of Pocket Skype was released a couple of days ago. Now it looks better, works better, many bugs fixed, and there are two versions - one for weak Pocket PCs and one for strong (>312Mhz) Download What’s new

Outlook: Internal editor vs MS Word
Just a thought, what should be used when working with emails with MS Outlook? Built-in editor or Office Word? What’s better? What should be preferred by default? Let’s see what’s the difference. Word has bigger possibilities in decorating email (HTML mode).. However I don’t use anything other than fonts colorizing and formatting. Internal editor is ok [...]

Colibri
I found the program launcher I am using more than a week and I’m very happy with it. No cheap ads, it is really useful. It’s name is Colibri. Launching programs is not a big deal, but usually takes several mouseclicks and several priceless seconds (I often forget what application I want to start during that).. [...]

Following Up with Outlook
Following up with outlook is a vital problem, if you sent a email and didn’t get a reply, sometimes you want to send a ‘follow-up‘ to remind about your previous email. There is no similar tracking feature for this in Outlook, bu there are a few utilities that help managing reminders. You can find a good [...]

Referer vs Referrer
Maybe I’m the only one who had this problem, I was using both words for same meaning. So the correct one is referrer. Referer is something mentioned and used by HTTP specification. Both are popular though. JFYI.

Skype 2 final!
Skype - The whole world can talk for free. Skype 2.0 Branch is not beta anymore, it’s final version. Not many changes to go after latest beta, but many people are now going to start using it. So groups, mood and videocalls should become more popular. Let’s see.

V4S
V4S – Free Web Voice Messaging People are getting anxious to get more from skype, and new service appear like mushrooms after rain. v4S is free Web Voice Messaging system. It’s beta, but still offers free voicemailing service, while skype charges for that. Interesting!

Skype Features
There is a list of something new and interesting with Skype let’s see: Skype 2.0 Beta - with new look and video chat ability New Pocket PC Skype version - with better sound perfomance and lower requirements to CPU A new addon software called CrazyTalk that allows you video chat with skype by controlling animated character.. CrazyTalk, very [...]

ePOST Serverless Email System
ePOST Serverless Email System P2P Email system is something I haven’t heard about yet. What is it? Serverless email software, secure and opensource system, sounds pretty cool. P2P is more and more popular, and this project has some future. One only disadvantage - it’s build with java ;(

Gtalkr
Gtalkr is web-interface (AJAX + Flash driven) to google talk IM. Works well, pretty fast, very interesting website and tool. A “must” to know about it.

FireFox 1.5 released
I didn’t expect this version of my favourite Mozilla FireFox browser so much as previous version, current 1.0.7 version is pretty comfortable to work with - fast, secure, stable. I will try 1.5 separately, and will probably switch only when it gets all necessary extensions I currently use. But looks like new 1.5 version is [...]

ZOE
It’s not a secret gmail is very popular not only because they offer a lot of space, it’s also very fast, simple and flexible, and it indexes everything in it’s own style. It really rocks when you have a lot of email correspondence like me and have to search mail archives often. ZOE (actually it’s [...]

ForceBindIP
Wow I finally found this amazing software.. I spent months looking for something like that, but no luck. But suddenly I faced this tiny (~36kb with installer) program and tried it. It is only useful for people who have several network interfaces and have to deal with routing all the time. I use WiFi and LAN, [...]

Neo Pro Free - awesome outlook indexer
I finally was able to find a free, fast, amazingly quick, powerful email organizer for Outlook - that’s definitely my software of this month. It’s name is Neo Pro What’s so amazing in it and why does anyone need this type of software. It is very useful only if you are using outlook and you have a [...]
