Toric contact lenses are uniquely engineered to help correct astigmatism. This is a condition in which the cornea is shaped irregularly--it's more oblong than spherical. Because of this shape, there are two focal points (instead of one) and objects will appear blurry to the viewer. Toric contact lenses have two different optical powers, with curvatures at right angles, that remove any distortion.
